Why is furry fandom mostly hated on for stuff other fandoms have?

Wow, this thread seems to have died, while others are going. Is furry considered that taboo that debating over whether it being fandom can never be discussed?

Threads come and go all the time on a web forum. It's interesting that you consider that this happened to your thread to in any way be meaningful or significant. It really isn't. It's kind of how web forums work. No threads last forever, and topic turnover is pretty rapid, honestly.

That's highly unlikely. What's much more likely is what I pointed out to you in my first response to this thread. Few people know what the blazes a furry is, they aren't going to care about discussing it, and they aren't going to hold it as taboo as you envision. I'm actually amazed this thread has multiple pages of responses.

Well i know of some people who see i think the bad side of the fandom and think that all in the fandom are like that. Like i knew of one place that equaled furry to be a sexual thing and such and didn't even listen to statements from actual furries, that they got it all wrong.

Amazing the power of a TV show, isn't it? I still remember seeing that CSI episode and how stupid it was showing everything (a guy giving a panel talk while dressed in a Tigger costume, really?) Then there's the fact that the idea of a back-room fursuit orgy sponsored by the convention itself is so incredibly wrong on so many mechanical, logistical, and probably even legal grounds that you know the show was just making stuff up.

Yup. I have a fursuit and i say people shouldn't trust everything they see on tv. Seriously if you wore a fursuit, you would know that what was portrayed in the show is fiction. Fursuits are hard to see out of,you can get heatstroke in one and synthetic fur cannot be cleaned. I only use my fursuit for charity work and bowling.

Main reasons why the suits aren't my thing. I don't even like makeup on my face.

Because i have noticed how people seem to judge furry mostly on the fact that it has adult content, when i have seen stuff like adult art on display at anime cons, people talking about Rule 34 at a comic con and such. Yet the other fandoms seem to get a free pass, while furry gets hated on. Adult art exists in all fandoms, but isn't the basis of any fandom. Even furry has g rated art.
I know Furries and I have no problem with them what so ever, but some people in fandoms can take things too far. I saw some footage from a cop show or what ever and this furry was being stopped and checked for illegal stuff, and they treated him like crap! People need to accept modern times and adapt to new groups and hobbies. Every fandom has a bad side, but most people in fandoms nowadays are cool

Furry is a term, in its loosest sense, used to describe people who enjoy characters that are anthropomorphic animals. In a more strict sense, it's a person who admires such characters and actively considers him or herself to be a part of the furry fandom (since there are a lot of people who may like, say, Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse but wouldn't necessarily consider themselves to be furries).

Omg thank you for explaining this. I've seen this around and am always like wtf is this? Is that like the little toy that talks to you? The bird thing? Lmao. So thank you for explaining this.

With bronies, I think it's more because it's really creepy to see grown men so obsessed with something that is meant for little girls. It screams "pedo".

But doesn't My Little Pony have boy ponies too? I know the newer series does? That blue one with the rainbow hair? Isn't that a boy? And little girls like boy stuff too. So if a little girl likes the Turtles (I loved them as a kid) and grown men do does that mean they're "pedo" too? I don't think so? I understand your concern but being a pedo has nothing to do with liking something that children do.I know girls who like Power Rangers. When I was a little kid they were huge (yugge sorry had to) and now as an adult I still enjoy them from time to time and I know lots of adult men online who like PR still... So see where you can go wrong? Lol.

Thank God. I thought it was something perverted.
