Why is no one doing this

Lord Jesus, this is my issue with you and your word:
John 14:12
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Lord, if you are going to make such extravagant promises with your grace, please start being faithful to your word! Why is no one doing these works? Please answer me Lord!

Many Christians do.

Perhaps you are misunderstanding the scripture?
Or have yet to see those who are doing greater works?

I don't think it's about miracle but about doing good works.
Yes, it is true that many Christians are doing good works...I suppose they would have more converts though if they did the mighty signs and wonders that Christ said they would do...however!

Perhaps, but it seems clear to me...those signs are supposed to follow those who believe in Christ!

Yes, I have yet to see those who are doing greater works.

I had a feeling it was miracles you were after.
These also are happening but you do not yet see them.
I do not see them and I resent God for promising them and not supplying the grace. I've prayed over quite a few people too. My dream was always to channel God's grace in such ways.

It is happening more and more but not yet to the extent that the average person is aware.

I will try to have faith in that. I wonder what I'm doing wrong that is blocking me from channeling God's grace in such ways?? Please let me know, Lord, and purify me!

I have a good friend who's life is about living as Jesus left the best he can - he spends his time helping male sex workers and the homeless. So people are doing this.

I admire your friend. The signs and wonders don't follow him, but still, if every Christian lived with his charity and humility, what a world we would have.

Please try and understand this.
The power of a healer does not come from some mysterious force but rather the ability to give the sick the faith they need to heal themselves.
You must understand the need before you can meet it.
It is neither you nor God that does the healing.
It is the one who is sick who heals themselves.
Sometimes through the use of nothing more than their faith.
Most of the time other things are needed.
Kind of like props in a ritual.

I didn't know that. God's word says:
Mark 16
New International Version
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Please Lord, be faithful to your word, in Jesus name!

I feel that in this instance, "believing in" Jesus is not about believing that Jesus existed as some historical figure or as the "son of God", but rather, about believing in and embracing the power of Jesus Christ's archetypal attributes (compassion, unconditional love, kindness, mercy, forgiveness, humility, wisdom, redemption, deliverance, salvation, sacrifice, etc) and allowing those attributes to manifest into your choices and actions in modern times.

So, it is about imitating him and practicing his virtues
