You've moved the goal post from evidence to proof. Not the same thing. There is a great deal of evidence for many things that we would not regard as total proof. Tectonic plates for example. We have yet to do the many deep dives into the earths crust and beyond to fully prove the theory. We do have a lot of evidence and last a looked very little to the contrary. But I would not say we have proved what is in the earth's center or how the plates work.

The problem is that in the US creationists, who are not all that different from Flat Earthers, have managed now and then to get their magical beliefs taught in public schools. They have caused real damage and continue to try to do so.

And yet not an issue in countries which don't have separation of church and state, state religion, but don't really talk about religion very much and still remain secular in schools and day to day life. Honestly I think responding to it is feeding it more than rebutting it.

In all my time on these forums I've never seen a self described 'skeptic' talk anyone out of being a creationist. But I have seen new creationists be made just because it gets so much exposure and validation just by being seem of as worth debating.

Honestly I think those self described skeptics mostly do it more for themselves, their sense of fun and self validation than 'fight the incursion of creationism in schools.'

I don't buy into the 6 24 hour days approach, however I don't see a value in mistreating those that do.

It does give me pause. In a nation founded on religious and economic freedom we abandoned freedom for force. It's very concerning. The disrespect to laugh people out of a conversation should also give us pause.

It should give the idiot pause. If I did a post game show for, oh, basketball, and started gibbering about proof of points, goalies, and center field (do they have those in basketball?) I would deserve to be laughed at.

Likewise creationists who bring up the same moldy half wit "proofs" they got from some creationist site.

Now IF you or anyone else, ever, once, came up with some fact contrary to ToE, you would not just get attention. That is a Nobel with chocolate frosting.

Discussion is fine. If one's opponent can be honest. Sadly that is a very very rare event in creation vs. evolution debate. As @Audie said "There is no such thing as an honest and intellectually informed creationist". Most creationists appear to know the dangers of knowledge so they do everything in their power to keep themselves ignorant. There are very few creationists that openly lie, though I can point out a few.

Sorry it was a fairy tale. We know that there was no such "flood" since some time before even the first vertebrates formed. But at least you see the problem that gives when it comes to evolution. It is just one of the many problems with the flood is that one not only has to believe in evolution to believe that fairy tale. One has to believe in super evolution..
