I'm not sure I understand your reluctance to attribute wanting to know where we cam from as anything past curiosity. Think of it; how did we get here ? ah, there's the Bible, there is also plenty of evidence that the World is far older than the Bible. Therefore, there was something before; what was there before?- an Ice age; why was there an Ice age?.......

Curiosity is Bound (IMO) to take you to what made the Earth ? Big bang; what made the big bang bang? Scientists are the ones with the greatest curiosity of all.

My reluctance isn't to How and What or even Why but to thinking it all needs a reason above the observable.

I knew someone who thought that everything, people, animals, plants, were all put here by an alien race as one big reality tv show.

We might just all be some alien races MMORPG characters. So maybe none of us a real.

As strange as it sounds there really is a theory that is like that, it's called the Matrix Hypothosis (named after the movie)it says that a race before us advanced to the point where they could make computer simulations of conciousness and we are the fruit of thier labor. Now i know that this sounds like some crack pot theory but the man who made it, Hans Moravec, said that the creators would only need to make the reality good enough to fool the inhabitants and so we should be able to find irregularities where the programers didn't do a perfect job and when we look at quantum mechaincs and the sub molecular world thats exactly what we find,particels are created and dystroyed, electrons are particles that have no mass and can also be waves, ect. I don't buy it but the thought is interesting.

This is the only new theory Ive been able to think of.
Maybe, our physical bodies are in a different deminsion, and our bodies that we think are real are just a form of astral projection into a world in which the gods made, and create all the different variables, events, etc. We are real, but the world is not. Sort of a type of matrix, only on a spiritual level, and one we volunter to partake in.
