Why is your Religion better than Shinto?

I trust to a certain extent what some Chinese say, but they have the worse regime I ever heard of.

Mao committed genocide against birds and sparrows and had a higher suicide rate in his POW camps than the Japanese did.

Mao was responsible for something worse than the Holocaust with a death toll of roughly 60 million Chinese.

The 60 million doesn't count those killed by the one child policy where babies were born and thrown in the trash or after birth abortion because most people were too poor or had no access to safe abortion.

Mao had people put on house arrest and repeatedly beaten and tortured until they were confined to wheelchairs for life.

Chinese enslave, brain wash, and rob their people of basic liberties and make fake food out of toxic chemicals and sink fishing boats illegally, but they are improving.

They still worship Mao everywhere and have him on their money.

But you're right. Today isn't one of my stable days. Lol!
Don't do whataboutism. Mao was a monster (who I'm sure has been devoured by Níðhöggr and cast into oblivion), but I'm not talking about him. We know for a fact that the Japanese committed horrible crimes against humanity. One being bad doesn't make their enemy good.

Shinto means "Way of the gods".

That is no more polytheistic than Christianity with the Trinity and Jesus saying , " you are gods"

The word "god" in the scriptures is really nothing more than someone with power and authority. As such, the term is often applied to men. We need to understand the scriptures from the point of view of an ancient Middle Eastern person. It doesn't matter what we think the word "god" means. It's what they thought about he word the counts. It's not that hard to learn what they thought it meant.

Jesus called the Jews gods because it was to them that God committed the scriptures, thus giving them power and authority which is why they would be considered gods.

There are in fact many such gods (1 Cor 8:5), but only one Yahweh, which is the god that created the universe.

The trinity is nonsense. Jesus is the son of God which accords with our normal way of thinking. It does not compute to say that Jesus is God and the son of God at the same time. It's one or the other. Given that Yahweh is called "one" hundreds of time, and Jesus is called the "son" hundreds of times, it seems pretty clear that Jesus is not Yahweh. True, Thomas called him, "my Lord and my god." No problem there. Given that Jesus had just risen from among the dead, it should come as no surprise that Thomas called him those things. At that point Jesus definitely held a position of power and authority. Still, Thomas, a good Jew, would never have thought anyone to be the one true God other than Yahweh.

It is the oldest religion in Japan. The faith has neither a founder or prophets and there is no major text which outlines its principal beliefs.

So, you get to decide the principal beliefs by following the convictions of your heart rather than an ancient text that contradicts itself.

Why is that good?

A) Nothing to argue and kill over related to Doctrinal or scriptural differences
B) no such thing as heresy
C)you can be more devoted to your god without Doctrine and Scripture frustrating you
D) no fire and brimstone sermons saying good compassionate people will burn in hell forever for not accepting Jesus
E) no founder means it could have been Yahweh or any God who founded it
F) no prophets means nobody speaks without error

You forgot to add point "G":

G) People like Hitler, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, and others can not be blamed for their heinous actions. they were just following the convictions of their heart.

Every soldier who dies for the Emperor gets enshrined as a Kami. Before going on their suicide missions, all kamikaze pilots would write home and tell each other, "we shall see each other again at Yasukuni Shrine".

In homes there are Kamidanas "godshelves" "godcupboards" where dwell Kami , and you can leave offerings and burn incense.

When a family member dies they become "family Kami" and dwell in the home and can be invoked and should be prayed for.

The dead have free will to be good or bad Kami. A bad Kami can change and choose to be a good Kami.

Tell me why your Religion is better.

1. Japan used their Shintoism to motivate their people against attacks. They did kill motivated by their religion. Religion is a language anyone uses.

2. The whole concept of Koiji with the primordial pair, Izanagi and Izanami is the story of creation. So they are the founders of Shintoism. When Japan was created by the droplets of the sea dripping down from the spear of the couple this husband and wife dual came down to earth and bore kids. Well, cutting things short, there is a creation, their is a primordial pair who are the creators, so your statement about YHWH is unfair.

3. There is a lot of war and strife between brother and sister born from Izanagi's nose and eyes etc. Its not like everything is hunky dory.

4. When people intend to they always create a heterodoxy and heresy. This happened in Shintoism very clearly too if you read up on the 17th century Yamazaki orthodoxy and heresy. Where ever there is an orthodoxy, there is a heresy. So it is impossible to say statements like there is no heresy.

5. Well. Apparently there are many texts that have different ideas of heaven and the creation episode etc. So its primarily eclectic. But when you say "no one is flawless" or speaks without error, even to the modern era the emperor is with out error. He is supreme, and perfect, without error. He speaks too with out error.

Emperor Hirohito didn't want war and Hideki Tojo took control of Shinto and their shrines and forced boys to be starved, beaten, run till they were dropping dead of exhaustion, and abused them so they would be mean like abused puppies.

He taught them that you never surrender for it is dishonorable and all Japan he wanted to commit suicide and begged Hirohito to not surrender but keep getting nuclear attacked.

He said Americans would rape and mutilate everyone and children were begging their parents in caves to kill them.

American flame throwers were cooking to death civilians hidden in caves. Civilians were throwing themselves off of cliffs.

Americans were decapitating, dismembering, and mutilating Japanese soldiers and leaving their skulls and limbs on trees.

American servicemen, attest to the taking of "trophies" from the corpses of Imperial Japanese troops in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Historians have attributed the phenomenon to a campaign of dehumanization of the Japanese in the U.S. media, to various racist tropes latent in American society, to the depravity of warfare under desperate circumstances, lust for revenge, or any combination of those factors.

The taking of so-called "trophies" was widespread....

Trophy skulls are the most notorious of the souvenirs. Teeth, ears and other such body parts were occasionally modified, for example by writing on them or fashioning them into utilities or other artifacts.[9]

Eugene Sledge relates a few instances of fellow Marines extracting gold teeth from the Japanese, including one from an enemy soldier who was still alive.

But the Japanese wasn't dead. He had been wounded severely in the back and couldn't move his arms; otherwise he would have resisted to his last breath. The Japanese's mouth glowed with huge gold-crowned teeth, and his captor wanted them. He put the point of his kabar on the base of a tooth and hit the handle with the palm of his hand. Because the Japanese was kicking his feet and thrashing about, the knife point glanced off the tooth and sank deeply into the victim's mouth. The Marine cursed him and with a slash cut his cheeks open to each ear. He put his foot on the sufferer's lower jaw and tried again. Blood poured out of the soldier's mouth. He made a gurgling noise and thrashed wildly. I shouted, "Put the man out of his misery." All I got for an answer was a cussing out. Another Marine ran up, put a bullet in the enemy soldier's brain, and ended his agony. The scavenger grumbled and continued extracting his prizes undisturbed.[10]

The cities were not military targets but mainly women, children, and noncombatant men.

I'm not sure why you're keeping this up, Matt. I'm not interested. Imperial Japan did much damage to Shinto and Japan in general. It led to their ruin, same as with the Nazis. I believe that such a diasterous end was likely a judgement of the Gods.

Shinto is not a "religion" as seen in western society. In fact, there was no equalivent Japanese word for, "religion" until recently, I think somewhere around less than 200 years.

I prefer secular humanism. I do not believe either religious dogma or a single individuals "heart" is sufficient to work out the overarching concept of morality.

Please show where that is said in the Bible?

I think Bible God is better because of the teachings in the Bible. I think Bible has truth, love, wisdom and correct knowledge also about future.
Jesus said we must eat his flesh and drink his blood or we have no life in us. Scripture says those not written in the book of life will be cast into a lake of fire.

There are other verses.

Most people believe that they were lucky to have parents who taught them the true religion, and they dismiss other religions as "ridiculous" or "heathen" or "pagan." They don't see the parts of their religion that others might consider ridiculous.

America was founded with freedom of religion, so we all can worship as we want, and don't disparage other's faith.

Tell me why your Religion is better.

I don’t think any religion is better than another. They are all distractions and satan loves when people are distracted by religion. Even Christianity if merely practiced as a religion is worthless.

I think Jesus is better because He is the Creator of heaven and earth, He became human to relate personally to humanity and pay for the sins of the world, He rose again conquering death for humanity and offers eternal life for all who trust Him as Savior.

All religions are only human effort and all founders of various religions are dead or will die. Christ alone left the grave and is eternally alive... and all who find life in Him.

Do you think it could be a metaphor?

Scripture says those not written in the book of life will be cast into a lake of fire.
I bet you wouldn't think it that bad if it was Trump and all Republicans thrown into the lake. :)
