Why no female US President?

Women would make good Presidents and Prime Ministers because they've got a side that nobody better mess with..;)

So... sometimes they look mean and/or unattractive?

How are women and men different in this regard? Or is it just our expectations that are different.

Obama wanted to airstrike Assads chemical warfare factories but chickened.
Israel wanted to nuke Irans nuclear reactors but again Obama chickened and wouldn't let them.
Now IS are rampaging in northern Iraq but he's cluck-clucking again and said on TV "We will not commit US troops to the area"
Yup, the White House definitely needs a tough dame in there..:)

And again, "dame" demonstrates why we don't have a female president.

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28 )

Jesus spent a terrible long night before his death, unable to sleep and racked with loneliness as his disciples fell asleep,
But next day on the cross, as he slipped into death his tired pain-filled eyes saw a host of loyal women who'd stuck with him to the end..
"Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed his last. There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene and Salome, who followed him and ministered to him when he was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem" (Mark 15:37)

They gave him the last womanly comfort they could by making sure he never died alone..

Some of the disciples ran off in fear of the Romans, but women stuck with him to the end-

It's almost as if he knew they'd be there for him, so he made sure he was always there for them during his lifetime-

You said that to a trans woman. That's doubly not cool.
I am not cool. I'm fully aware that mocking a person's appearance is bad form,
eg, Hillary's wrinkles, Obama's ears, Dubya's chimp-like face, Jesse Jackson's
googly eyes, Chris Christie's girth, Gore's deadpan face, Nixon's jowels, Reagan's
oddly jet black hair, etc, etc. Face it, Coulter looks a little odd. And if you infer
some arcane transsexual slight in pointing at her adam's apple, they you're flat
out wrong.
I'd also point out that those in glass houses should not cast stones, given some of
the insults I've seen you lob in anger.

This is not going to go well, is it?
This thread however, demonstrates to me why we don't have a female president.
Of the tickets I've voted for, there have been several female VP candidates.
They lost fair & square because of voters' political preferences, not gender.

I'm not counting third party tickets, because the awareness of them by the average voter is so low that neither men nor women get anywhere near the level of attention. Perhaps that means they have an easier time of making it to the ticket in the first place. Although VP candidates are rarely elected (I don't know how all the parties work, but obviously in the two primary parties, they're selected) and I think that says something, that that's where women make it to the ticket, in the VP slot.

The questions that are asked of a female candidate aren't the same ones asked of a male candidate, the expectations are similarly different. Clinton was subject to this and so was Palin. So have many, many others who didn't make it that far.

Palin was pornified and ditzified, while Clinton has been *****ified and shriekified.

Either women candidates for the highest executive office are talked about for their looks or for the tone of their voices. Their stances typically are not considered nearly as much as the stances of male candidates by the pundits or the public.

I agree with everything.
What's wrong with me?

Palin seem to be treated much worse than any other candidate I can think of.
Hillary...she seems to fare better than Dubya (even his name is an insult), so I don't
think her gender is much of a handicap. It even appears to be an advantage, eg,
the "chickenhawk" epithet doesn't stick.
If she becomes the Dem prez'l nominee, you & I will revisit this.

Dr. Condie Rice would be the most QUALIFIED candidate for President hands down
I disagree. First of all, she's not a real doctor. At least Rand Paul could
perform my cataract surgery (which I expect to need in a couple decades).
But yeah, she seems better than most of those we see angling for the job.

And ya know what? I don't care (I also never developed an adam's apple). I thought the comment was funny myself. Coulter is so hateful she deserves ridicule. Of course making fun of her "madam's apple" isn't very pc, but neither was her "******" comment about John Edwards. And, hey, she claims to be more of a man than any Liberal out there, so on that note, maybe that giant adam's apple will cow Putin. I'll even take it a step further; after her comment about 9/11 widows, saying Jews need to be "perfected," and calling those of Middle Eastern descent "********" and "jihad monkeys," she deserves to have the fact her face looks more masculine than feminine pointed out.

Palin seem to be treated much worse than any other candidate I can think of.

Palin probably did get it worse, especially considering things like the SNL skit that convinced America that Palin is convinced she can see Russia from her back yard (or however it went). But with Clinton, even as old as she is, I still hear alot of guys going on about "her time of the month" and how she'll "be itching to press the [nuclear bomb] button."

I've surveyed people IRL about her "I can see Russian from my house!" remark.
Many say that this is a reason they'd never vote for her. When I point out that
it was actually Tina Fey who said this (pretending to be Palin), they typically
don't believe me. I even heard NPR attribute the quote to Palin.
Ugh....political discourse at election time makes me shudder. At least I have
the likes of you & some others here for civil conversation!

I accept the invitation to revisit.
