I hear what you are saying. I can't rationalize a god who is one, showing manifesting himself in a way which is not consistent with himself.
But what is himself? He is what we see him as. We try to ascribe characteristics to the ineffable. As I always say, God shows himself in a way meaningful to the devotee; i.e. everyone sees God in their own way.
But that is not completely true, because people can and do convert. So you can think like a Christian if you so desired. Only, perhaps you were raised in your religion, so you are predisposed to thinking like a Hindu.
I am a convert from Christianity. Not because I have a problem with God, but because of the way Christianity as a "religion" defines God. That is not how I see God. I don't think like a Christian or see God the way a Christian does.
