Why so much wickedness and suffering ?

There is no personal God, there's a universal spirit out there but it's impersonal.

All human beings have to take an active part in combatting evil, otherwise it spreads.

If that is true, why are the least religious countries the most peaceful? And the most religious countries the most wicked?

This is an interesting question, the reason i think the least religious countries are more peaceful is because satan doesnt have to work as hard to deceive them, but in the religious countries they hold truth from God especially with islam, so they must work harder to cause strife. God has said those that waste their days indulging in the worldly life will be sent into hellfire. We were created to worship God, through everything that we do it has to be a form of worship.

Why, then, is there so much wickedness and suffering? One reason is that mankind in general has rejected God as Ruler, not wanting to submit to his righteous laws and principles. Humans have unwittingly submitted to God’s Adversary, Satan, for “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) Knowledge of this fact makes it easier to understand why bad situations exist. Satan is evil, hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So we should expect the world to reflect the personality of its ruler. No wonder there is so much wickedness!

Can't blame Satan. We have freewill.

Satan does not 'control' our actions.

So according to your logic, all countries would be better off without religion then right?

If as you say these countries are more peaceful because satan doesn't have to work so hard - well being more peaceful and making satan work harder would both be pluses.

I don't have an answer for that.....

I believe the Bible is the word of God and if it says the devil is responsible for all evil and wickedness I believe it.

Which raises questions about Noah's flood. Killing all people but letting the main perp alive does not seem very efficient towards removing global wickedness.

the first in the list is iceland and Iceland is predominantly a christian country with 80% being of the Lutheran state church.

Im not sure that the claim you are making is entirely correct.

I would be careful with inferring religiosity from belonging to the State Church, which is basically how they tag you at birth. According to this, I should be religious because I don't bother going through the paperwork to remove my name from the list of Lutherans in Sweden.

For instance, in Sweden 70% belong to the Lutheran church, but a mere 18% believe that there is a god (and that includes Muslims in the interview).
