Why Socialism doesn't work ?

Oh, it works (in that it can endure).
But the nature of a system which requires suppressing
economic liberty is one which I wouldn't want to live under.

Maybe this is why no one who has actually lived under socialism is ever a proponent of it.

Is capitalism doing any better?

Edit: It's also worth remembering that when market forces aren't enough to make companies honour their commitments, it's often up to governments to pick up the pieces with socialist measures:

There is no functioning pure socialism or pure capitalism. Only mixtures of the two. Imho the United States needs more of the former than the latter, as we are something of a dynastic profit driven oligarchy who doesn't adequately emphasize the availability of essential human resources if it affects the bottom line.

In short, our current overemphasis of capitalism is strangling this country.

The problem with socialism, as I heard about commented by someone else, is that eventually you run out of other people's money.
Money is needed to facilitate trade. Money wouldn't be needed in a cooperative economy.

What IS needed is a competent government free of corruption and that system has yet to be invented. Until that happens, we'll have to stumble along with mixed economies. It's the best we can do.

It works when you brainwash everyone. And those you can't brainwash... Well, let's just say they magically disappear.

Actually many people who live under socialism think it's fine. You know, assuming you don't go out of your way to cherry pick outliers from failed states. Ask someone from Sweden how they feel about their socialised systems. Or Australia. Or Canada. Or...

Glib platitudes aside, can you name an economic or government system that doesn't rely on "other people's money"?

Canada (aka Canuckistan) is arguably more capitalistic than Americastan.
Those countries you listed aren't socialist (because of their rampant capitalism).
How about real socialist countries....
N Korea
The old PRC
Cuba
The old E Germany
The old USSR
If things were "fine" there, why did they have to prevent people from escaping?

News Flash!: All countries today are a mixture of capitalistic and socialistic programs, so for someone to say that "socialism" doesn't work is completely, 100% absurd. But it does feed Trump's anti-education base.
You keep going on about this "anti-education" thing.
At least my degrees were more useful than your
naming all the spiders.

Edit for those who don't watch Archer....

Capitalistic, socialistic, and fascist programs, in certain cases *looks meaningfully at one country in particular*
