WHY, somebody please tell me, WHY is Hunter Biden a matter for Congress?

Congress has every right to investigate Hunter Biden, and so what. What they are really after is not Hunter, but Joe. They will have to prove that Hunter profited in any way by Joe's influencing any party connected with Joe's business dealings while he was VP. If they don't have that locked down, it will be nothing more than another failed attempt by Macarthy as was Benghazi.
Voters want to know what his plans are for moving forward.
They'll attempt to prove that Hunter Biden was responsible for the 18.5 minute gap in one of the key Watergate tapes. Also, newly-discovered photographs will show that Hunter Biden was seen crossing the grassy knoll at Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963, even though he hadn't even been born yet. Hunter Biden is the linchpin of a massive interplanetary conspiracy to undermine the American way of life. If they take him out, all the dominoes will fall and the Swamp will become totally unraveled.
Absolutely. And if this is how this Republican lead House wants to spend its limited time in power that is their right.
And in two years they will have to account to the voters for how they spent their time.

IMO, in large part because they have no agenda to actually deal with the real problems that face us. Heck, they didn't even have a party platform in 2020.

Presidents don't investigate themselves. It really is up to Congress to oversee the President and investigate evidence of impeachable offenses. Only the House of Representatives can impeach the President.
This is basic checks and balances between an Executive Branch and a Legislative branch. It is so fundamental that if you don't understand this, then how can you possibly understand anything?

What do you think about Mike Pence saying what he said and refusing to speak to the committee? Does it set a bad precedent for future investigations?
And when did Hunter Biden become the President? I was under the impression he was a private citizen.

I want to know why this was covered up by 99% of the media until after the 2020 and 2022 elections.
How much of what has been uncovered by real journalist point to misconduct of then VP Biden.
However, again the only thing the committe can do is shine a light on the data on the laptop....
Biden can not be impeached for his activites prior to taking office as the President. Hence these hearing are dog and pony shows/policitcal stunt.
Hunter is under investigation by DOJ in Delaware, let see what becomes of that.

I'm not sure why Hunter Biden's laptop is an issue for a House investigation, UNLESS there is influence by Joe Biden in some way. I have heard that Biden or his campaign influenced media to not cover the laptop issue before the 2020 election. If this is true, then is it a crime or just unethical?
If it is true was it done because what was being reported was right wing disinformation and Biden's action was an equal response to disinformation?
Thus far I have read different things about the whole laptop story, and I tend to dismiss the right wing media, since they are unethical and unprofessional. Reliable media has reported on what right wing media reported so I'm not sure what is actually true and what is manufactured by the right.
At worse Joe Biden helped Hunter get a job at a Ukraine energy company that was trying to clean up it's global image. And what was on Hunter's laptop Who knows, and who cares?
This is all low priority if the accusations are true. Jim Jordan is not ethical nor rational, and he is likely going to create a committee hearing that is going to be criticized. If he carries on with an investigation, just like the two Benghazi hearings, it will come back to bite Republicans in the ***. I predict Hunter Biden will face no consequences, and republicans will look ignorant, divisive, and foolish. Voters will wonder why they are wasting time and money on an investigation that isn't relevant to the future of the nation. Even if Joe helped his son get a job, or influenced media in not reporting a false story, is it any worse than what Trump did with hiring his family for government jobs? Look at the 2 billion deal Jared got with the Saudis while he was an advisors for Trump, now that is an ethical question that is vastly worse than what the Bidens are accused of.
