Why the double standard?

IndigoChild5559

Every single day I get updates how many people have died in Gaza or Lebanon. Every day. Many articles in my feed.

I don't think I've ever gotten an article in my feed telling me of casualties in Ukraine. Certainly not multiple articles every day.

I know why *I* think there is this double standard, but I'm curious why you all think so.

Because Europeans are manure, according to the Democratic Party.

:)
They are inferior...being white and Christian.

And they even wonder why they lost the elections.

I think that many dems should liberate themselves and be honest, for once.

They are unconscious victims of the Cancel Culture that means to undo a certain civilization from world history.

We don’t get regular updates about many tragedies that happen all around the world, every single day. I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s a conspiracy.

As an American taxpayer, you're helping to fund the killing of Palestinians and Lebanese people. You aren't funding the killing of Ukrainians.

I will say that all deaths are equally tragic and from a fundamental humane point of view, the wide variation of media (and public) interest in different conflicts never rational, but socially, politically and commercially they can at least be understood. After all, these aren't the only ongoing conflicts around the world and we hear little or nothing about some of the others.

A couple of factors for this contrast I'd say. First, the proportion of the civilian population killed is much greater in Gaza than Ukraine, and the deaths in Ukraine are generally due to relatively conventional military action. I also think the number of deaths in Gaza is a major factor for the various interested parties debating the conflict. In Ukraine, there is also (to put it bluntly) less political capital in highlighting civilians deaths and both sides want to keep quiet about their military deaths, so that isn't the focus of reporting.

Or Sudan, or Myanmar, or Ethiopia, . . .

A lot of it, probably most of it, has to do with what @9-10ths_Penguin says here:

But I also suspect that there's some element of trendiness involved for a lot of people.

Websites run on ad revenue so they have to cater to people's interests.

Oh yes we are funding the killing of Ukrainians by sending trillions of dollars worth of weapons over there to keep this proxy war with Russia going where Ukrainian people are caught in the suffering.

“Watch Columbia University Jeffrey Sachs’s presentation of the basic facts and timeline of how the U.S. government recklessly discarded James Baker’s promise to Gorbachev in 1991.

Since then, the U.S. has pursued policies that have sown fear in Moscow, ultimately baiting Moscow to take military action in Ukraine to prevent the CIA and NATO from further establishing their power in that country whose northeast border lies only 350 miles from Moscow.”

It's your focus that's being fed.
Another factor could be that news coverage highlights
Gaza deaths because USA has a hand in causing them.

Or put another way, your tax dollars are going to stop the spread of Islamism and terrorism/

That's the interesting part: it probably won't. Gaza became the perfect ground to breed terrorists. Every tragic moment fuels the hatred inside of one more generation at a time.

You might be correct about that, but my understanding is that kids in Gaza were subjected to violent anti-semitism teaching long before 10/7. I think the only answer is for Muslims to decide that Islamism and terrorism need to stop - around the world, not just around Israel. Because we know that Muslims are the most frequent victims of Islamism and terrorism.
