Journalist check, and shield. Whistleblowers release. How would you define the two and why does Assange meet the criteria of the latter?
Let's say there's a hornet's nest hanging near a school playground. If someone puts up signs informing people it's there, warns people about the effects of hornet stings, and lets you know what to do if stung, that's journalism. If someone knocks it down with a big rock and forces everyone to deal with the aftermath of their privately arrived-at decision, that's whistleblowing.
