Will the Republican Party Die in 2020?

Trump raised $15 million in a day in California not too long ago. Anyone who thinks that the Republican Party is going to die in 2020 isn't seeing the facts right in front of their faces. The Republican Party is changing, sure, as is the Democratic Party, but neither party is dying anytime soon--unless the progressives succeed in tearing down the moderate establishment of the Democratic Party and schism to create a Progressive Party, with the moderate leftists left in the middle to pick either the Republican Party which has actually shifted slightly left since Trump took office, or the Progressives which oftentimes openly advocate various forms of Socialism.

I rack up miles on rural highways, so I can't read bumper stickers.
It's interesting how everyone's metrics can differ in so many ways.
I knew then that my yard sign survey was skewed by where I drove,
ie, areas where I'd expect Trump to be the more popular one.
Still...the difference was striking.

I recall back in 1990 when I spent some time visiting relatives in Louisiana. Just about every other yard had a "David Duke" sign in it. Around here, it was kind of a mixed bag, about half Hillary, half Trump.

How to Handle the Anxiety of a Donald Trump Presidency
Therapists have informally theorized a new problem -- Trump Anxiety Disorder
Perhaps RF should offer counselling to those suffering from
unrelenting hostility towards Trump, supporters, & even those
who held our noses to vote for the lesser of 2 evils.

I've never heard of anything like this before during my lifetime. And I lived through the presidencies of Nixon and Reagan. A lot of people didn't like Nixon; some really hated him. But at least they were able to keep a sense of humor about it.

"If you don't like it here then leave".

The whole DNC melts at once.

Perhaps you should rethink that. :D
Why in God's name, do you think I should leave? This is my country too, young man. There's room for right-wing nutters too in my country. Unless they don't tolerate those unlike them. Then, that's a problem.

I never said you should leave. I was quoting Trump to prove a point, and it worked great.

Will the Republican Party die in 2020? Of course, there will always be a Republican Party in a technical sense. I mean is 2020 the year the Republicans become America's permanent minority party, incapable -- or nearly incapable -- of winning the House, the Senate, or the Presidency?

The famous Democratic pollster, Stanley Greenberg, believes he has amassed evidence showing that 2020 will be another Blue Wave year. He thinks the Democrats will take the House, the Senate, and the Presidency in a landslide.

Now, of course, Trumpettes are saying just the opposite. They are saying Trump will win and the Republicans will keep the Senate and regain the House.

But on what grounds are they saying such things?

Trumpettes are by and large contemptuous of the sciences and instead much more often than not base their beliefs on their gut feelings, their emotions, and their "vast personal experience" -- and they are downright proud of their disdain for polling and other scientific measures.

Scientific evidence versus gut feelings. I guess 2020 will show which are better predictors of the truth.

Comments?

Depends on what happens with "Trumpism" The GOP is leaching off of what popularity Trump has, at least with his base, to prop up the party. If party goes back to the likes of Jeb and Cruz it really has nothing beside low taxes and religion for it's platform.

People seem to think Politics match up with personal lives? Bill Clinton, Barack Obama. hooray. I don't think I ever cared what the Republicans did. When? Lee Myung-Bak money scandal? Whats that garbage. I was amazed how he smiled fo a meeting with George W Bush. I have fantasy scenarios in which Korea was in a League of Nations and we defeated an Axis of Evil, and eliminated the North Korean Race together.
