Will there be a new Abrahamic religion sometime soon?

I am watching the signs and it seems the atmosphere of the world is right for another Abrahamic faith to be born and develop. It's been about 1400 years since the last one. I think this Abrahamic faith will also grow major in a short time, because like Christianity and Islam before it, it will draw converts from the older Abrahamic faiths. I get the feeling this will happen.

It may be the last thing we need, but it still seems it will happen, especially since people are looking for new faiths and forms of spirituality these days.

Just wait.........you might hear of Prophet Revoltingest (pbuh) in the news.
There will be change.....big change!
- Bacon wrapped scallops will be kosher for all.
- Cartoons mocking me are encouraged.
- There is no tithing in Revoltifarianism.
- Hawaiian shirts will be the new vestments.
- Churches will welcome money changers.
- Belief in God is optional.
- Satan is rehabilitated, so any sinning is the responsibility of the sinner. No excuses about The Devil making you do it!
- Government leaders will have heart plugs (just like the Harkonnens on Giedi Prime).
- Some TV series will be have new episodes: The Wire, Deadwood, Pushing Daisies, The Unit, The Critic, Arrested Development, The Shield, Futurama
- Scripture will be in limerick form.

I agree with Smoke. The Bahai Faith is for all reasonable intents and purposes an Abrahamic religion.

And as such faiths go, it is perhaps the nicest one that could exist.

I don't think Bahais are that nice at all. Learn a little more about them and you'll see.

I've met a few. I've participated in a few of their meetings.

They seem to be nice enough. Certainly better than the average Protestant.

I'm told that they have some nasty political divisions, however. Would that be what you are talking about?

No I'm talking about the way some of them have behaved toward me, I'd rather discuss this particular thing in PM if you want more details. I'd break forum rules to post it here.

I am not sure that I see a new big Abrahamic religion rising soon. What signs do you see? There are frequently new branch religions being created. LDS is another example I think.
What makes you think so Yosef?

I've posted you a response in the limerick thread. :D

I highly doubt that a new religion would be able to rapidly convert a large enough number of people to be able to vie for a spot with the other Big 3.

Obviously, I don't know the feelings of people back when those other new religions were being created, but right now, it does seem to me that Christians and Muslims are digging in. They would be more likely to denounce a new prophet as the Anti-Christ then to flock to him. Also, as for Muslims, I do believe that belief that Muhammed was the seal of the prophets-- the last one-- is a pretty major one.

As for gaining new converts from the less devout believer, or the non-religious bunch, the new prophet will have to contend with a lot more competition than those in earlier ages did. Think about it. A new prophet would be interesting for about the 0.3 seconds and then we'd be on to the next thing. He develops a great theology? Why should I believe its true any more than all the other religions, or episodes of Lost, for that matter? He performs a miracle? Yawn. I saw David Blane do that on youtube last week. Not many people would take him seriously.

Um, define "Abrahamic faith" please.

Mormonism and Ba'hia (or however you spell it) were started in the early 19th century and the JW's are younger still.

Mormonism and JW's are Christians, not their own religions, and it could well be argued Bahais are a form of Islam, as I've even heard some Bahais state themselves.

All three Abrahamics are essentially the same as well, all three share the same myths and foundations, and even the same deity.

Their doctrines are certainly different, but Mormonism can said to be as different as Islam is from Christianity, and JW's reject the Trinity aspect of Christianity.

And let us not forget Rastifarianism, as someone else mentioned, as well as Santeria, a mix of Caribian/African mysticism and Christianity.

It hasn't been that long. The Mormon faith is so young it was established in America.

All these new ideas being born from Christianity and Islam, I think the last religion to be born from Judaism was Christianity, LOL.
