Will there be another Muslim prophet after Mohammed PBUH?

It is safe to say, like god, the three big Abrahamic religions all have different definitions of prophet.
I assume you're familiar with the story of the blind men and the elephant. But in case you're not, what you write is accurate but incomplete. The fact that each faith sees something different when they "touch the elephant", does not mean the elephant does not exist. It does mean that each viewpoint can be true but incomplete.

In this case it factually does im afraid. I wish the answer was different.

But we are not blind and see this clearly coming and going.

You are however giving a good analogy of the religious ignorance the world holds as a total population. Most of the world is religious, not knowing anything at all about their faith.

Education clears all that up.

I don't enjoy beating up islam, it has always been low hanging fruit I ignored, I don't enjoy having extremist threaten my family because of the religions required fanaticism either. And a religion who's sectarianism has caused American deaths cleaning up their mess

I think a better question would be. Have the muslims ever had a real prophet? It is my belief that real prophets are inspired by God. I have no reason to believe mohammad was inspired by God.

Friends Marturion,

All the prophets that came are prophets of Islam. There are 124 000 prophets out of which 25 were mentioned in the Quraan.

Muhammad peace be upon him. I hope you would read the Quraan by yourself to judge that.

Regards.

Bismillah,

Thanks for asking this question. As Muslims we believe that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last and final Messenger/Prophet sent to mankind. There cannot be a prophet after him.

However we believe in the Mehdi but he will not be a Prophet but a righeous Muslim. The Prophet has told us about the Mehdi and that he will come near the end of times. We do not think that this has yet happened. He is not the current leader of ISIS or any other organization.

During the lifetime of Mehdi, we believe that Esaa ibno Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary, Peace be upon both of them) will come back to the earth and be the ruler of earth.

Hopes that answers the question

I have heard talk of another Muslim Prophet recently, it had to do with the end times.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

In that regard, Muhammad peace be upon him is the last prophet and the Quraan is the last revelation.

However, there is the coming of Jesus peace be upon him who will kill the false Christ. There is also the mahdi who would lead the muslims.

And both of these are signs that Judgement Day is coming closer.

You have nothing credible to bring to the thread that could change that do you?

I am not a scholar on Islam, but because of my relations to India (as a Hindu) and particular to Kolkata, I might know more of Islam than many and in some cases more than some Muslims.

This question about Prophets sometimes reveals a misunderstanding. The word Prophet does not mean just any human who is wise, who by way of the powers of the Divine sees the future trends or as used in common tongue "He is a Prophet, what He said came true" or "He is a Prophet, God speaks the ways of men and the future of their kin to him".

No. Prophet has been incorporated by others incorrectly. It is Not a type, yes you can be a Saint, but a Prophet is only for special Sampradaya, lineage, clan succession, birthright, annointment from a designated race or clan, specifically descendants of Abraham, either from the children of Isaac or from the children of Ishmael, or annointed by one of these descendents as being accepted as Prophet (Prafit) of this Sampradaya.

NO ONE ELSE CAN BE A PROPHET.

Ishmael went to the desert and Arabia, where though a desert was also protected from invaders from North, South, East, West, from this lineage then there was one called Mohammed by Muslims, HE IS CONSIDERED THE LAST PROPHET BY MANY MUSLIMS.

However, this can mean the last word while the clan is scattered, meaning the lineage has been broken after that. But in fact, Islam can and may have another annointed Prophet from a living descendent but THE WORD CANNOT CHANGE UNTIL A MAHDI COMES.

So no, you cannot be a Prophet, but you can become a Saint. Only a certain chain of succession can be a Prophet.

There are different sects of Islam. There is also predicted a NEW sect is either coming or already here, but does not have yet a NAME.

So you ignore different people at different times, have different interpretations of the word "prophet" ?

... yes, unfortunately if some feelungs might be hurt, but it would be like saying "He is the King from the Norman-Goth Royal Crowns of Europe" even though you are a barber and you might become a Dictator or claim a title, or say "I am Kaiser (Caesar)" but... you are not the King spoken of.

Prophet is a lineage. No way can I or you, be a Prophet under the correct method, only those of the clan I mentioned or annointed as Prophet by one of the descendents. It is not a title, but a succession. Sorry.

Update: Actually परम्परा, paramparā is a more approximate term to this "succession" and not sampradaya. I am throwing in Hindu words to try and help, these are just comparisons.

I prefer global knowledge on the subject, and what I have learned from islam source Judaism.

And their older claims originally meant "one who speaks about god"

The current definition you speak of is a perversion of this older original definition.

It is also mythology as no person exist that is any better then me or you, no person has ever existed that is any better then me or you, as far as prophet is concerned. This is a fact.

What makes Judaism more credible is they do not all hold the required fanaticism and fundamentalism of islam

I understand your points, and also the liberal (true liberal and not in the political sense) humanity of how the word is applied today (and even is some cases in those olden days as well), also I do not want to confuse the message of what I am saying to imply only from the time of Abraham forward - because yes what I refer to as the "succession" is even older than that, all I am saying is the word Prophet is not a title or attribute given to anyone nor a word applicable to all of humanity, it is more like a family name though it is an old line of succession both birth based and given to adopted "sons" and those annointed by this Semitic line. This line is both Jewish and now Islamic.

If I were to call myself a Prophet, it would be like calling myself a Kennedy but even that is a bad anology. Because you do not need to be the son of a particular Semitic Mother and Father to be a Prophet, you can be adopted or annointed. And not anyone in this stccession is a Prophet, only the teachers who are having direct communion with Divine.

In Islamic eschatology, the Mahdi (the Guided One) is the prophesied redeemer of Islam who will rule for seven, nine or nineteen years (according to differing interpretations) before the Day of Judgment (yawm al-qiyamah / literally, the Day of Resurrection) and will rid the world of evil.

There is no explicit reference to the Mahdi in the Qu'ran, but references to him are found in hadith (the reports and traditions of Muhammad's teachings collected after his death). According to Islamic tradition, the Mahdi's tenure will coincide with the Second Coming of Hazrat Isa, who is to assist the Mahdi against the Masih ad-Dajjal (literally, the "false Messiah").
Mahdi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (with some editing)

Many have claimed or are believed to be Mahdis, but they are wrong for the simple reason that the world should not last for more than 19 years after their coming (my interpretation). :)

What One-answer said. But what he left out was that both Mahdi and Prophet Jesus will be followers of Prophet Muhammad. They will certainly be the leaders and guides of the Muslims but not prophets. Prophethood was ended with Prophet Muhammad.

And it is really not necessary for prophets to have prophetic lineage. Although in many cases such things have been observed. This thing is highlighted in some books maybe just to show that one is very pious because of his great holy lineage.

Just to be very clear, Hazrat Isa is a Muslim name for Jesus, where "Hazrat" is a very respectful honorific and "Isa" is (I assume) Arabic for "Jesus". Is that correct?

Peace be on you. Thanks for saying the name of Prophet with respect, many thanks and may God bless you richly. Aameen.

This humble saw the OP when 256 readings were already done. (now 288)

Now the answer, it is from Ahmadiyya Muslims' understanding.

Human has been granted various faculties. When they see things, they reason that there should be maker of these things. The maker made things through creation and guided-evolution.

The Maker announced He exists. The spiritual message of Unity of God and of human rights started at Prophet Adam (on whom be peace) and continued to evolve through various Prophets at various localities and through various needs. The essence was always same: Worship One God, Pay rights of people.

Evolution of religion was made perfect and made universal at Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

The Prophet is the person who gets teaching and news from God and make Prophecies by the directive of God. Since he comes with Divine Message, he is also called Messenger.

Human self is made of raw faculties, human has to cultivate it for self control and lift off. Basic purpose of any true religion is to educate a person to learn to evolve in itself. Then one learns basic morals and advances further into higher spiritual states. The purpose is to pay rights of God and rights of people. According to Holy Quran, these states are

a-- raw-state,
b-- moral state and
c-- satisfied-with-God state.

[Details in historic public lecture, helped by God, “The Philosophy of Teachings of Islam” by Ahmadiyya Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) in alislam.org (book section)].

Prophets are sent at the time when people forget God, and forget returning to Him and then forget themselves i.e. they immerse into all sorts of corruptions….. Prophets are the people who, before the ministry is given to them, are known to be best people........The flame of revelation makes them stand single handed and strive against mafias of deep and wide evils, of the time…….They predict their success and get it when all odds are against them proving Alive God with them.

Remember Prophet Abraham (on whom and all Prophets be peace) who stood against idol worshipers and atheists and their corruptions, and how God saved him from them. Remember Prophet Moses when he continued to give advice to strongest monarch. Remember the Prophet Jesus who continued to spread divine message in the face of multi-faced resistance. [According to Ahmadiyya Muslims, he was saved from cross and migrated to Kashmir. En route he met promised tribes. He successfully preached message of One God in that area: Proofs from Quran, Bible, ancient History, ancient Medical record: “Jesus in India” by Ahmadiyya Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) , alislam.org (book section)].

Remember the wide spread moral and other types of corruptions in land and in existing religions, when Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was sent……What was so odd when he said, ‘God is One’. Those who always testified his truthfulness and trustworthiness, started to mock....... As the number of followers increased, mockery turned into persecution…..Mafias were foreseeing the closure of their power; the power which was based on abuse of human rights. The full message was ‘God is One, pay human rights as He teaches’.

There was long struggle and eventually Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was successful in establishing the message of Unity of God which contained the message of human right. Various fallen human groups woke up and learned ways of physicial and spiritual life.

As earlier it is said, Prophets do make Prophecy by the knowledge given by God. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was foretold by God that even though he is given perfect teaching, his message still has to reach the corners of the earth but:

=The ways and means were yet to ripe.
=The global village phenomenon was yet to come.
=The grand spiritual duel between true faith and faithless-ness and corrupted faiths (which were true in nascent form) was yet to take place.

Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was revealed by Allah the Exalted, in Holy Quran:
HOLY QURAN, SURAH (CHAPTER) JU’MUA:

[ch62:v3] ‘He it is Who has raised among the Unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His verses, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom, although they had been, before, in manifest misguidance;

[ch62:v4]’And among others from among them, who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.’

ABOUT THE VERSE (62:4)
The Companion Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
One day we were sitting with Holy Prophet when Surah Jumua was revealed. I enquired from the Holy Prophet, “Who are the people to whom the words,
“And among others who have not yet joined them” refer?” Salman, the Persian was sitting among us. Upon my repeated asking him the same question the Holy Prophet put his hand on Salman and said, “If faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would surely find it. [Ref: Book of Hadith, Bukhari]

POINTS
i- The coming of someone, at the time when faith had gone to Pleiades [metaphor for extreme weakness in practice of faith] is being told as the coming of Holy Prophet Muhammad himself, which is obviously a metaphor too.

ii- It does not mean Prophet Muhammad would come again in person. [No reincarnation]

iii- Such metaphor is used about Allah in Quran too…..It is said when Prophet Muhammad threw handful of dust towards opponents, it was the hand of Allah who did so…..It is said during the Pledge taking under the tree, it was hand of Allah over the hands of believers…..Believers are asked to get colour of Allah…..Obedience of Prophet is obedience of Allah.

PREVIOUSLY: Coming of Elijah before true Messiah was explained as coming of John the Baptist.

iv- Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) has foretold about latter days…… He has foretold the Signs of latter days in such a chained manner which cannot be forged by anyone. He mentioned Signs in heavens, earth, morals, economy, health, inventions, human right awakenings, astronomical changes, and many things.

v- He has foretold that:
a---- Esa Nabi-Ullah (Jesus, prophet of Allah) [Reference: Long Hadith is book of Hadith called “Sahih Muslim”] would come for revival of faith.
b---- Mahdi would come. He (p.b.u.h.) said: Mahdi is none but Esa (Jesus)..[Ref: Ibne majah Hadith]
c---- Please see above, we wrote the verse (62:4) and Prophet (p.b.u.h.) explained someone would come for revival work; he placed his hand on the shoulder of Comapanion Salman (from Persia)

vi-The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) mentioned that there would be:
a-- Khilafat on the precept of Prophethood after him,
b-- then various eras of kingships with severity would come and
c-- then again khilafat on the precept of Prophethood would be established.
Then he did not say anything.
[Gist Ref: Narrator Companion Huziafa r.a. , Musnad Ahmad, Hadith]

vii- HOLY QURAN TEACHES A PRAYER IN THE BEGINNING:
[ch1:v6] Guide us in the right path —
[ch1:v7] The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray.

WHAT ARE THESE BLESSINGS

[ch4:v70] And whoso obeys Allah and this Messenger of His shall be among those on whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs, and the Righteous. And excellent companions are these.
Clearly, Prophethood is the first blessings of the four blessings mentioned.

RESULTS

1= Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) is the last Prophet for all humanity with last religious law (Shariah) Quran.

2= In Latter days (current era of 1000 years), Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.)’s ardent devotee is prophesied to come. He would be spiritually metaphorically imbibed in the colour of his master (p.b.u.h.).

3= The ardent devotee of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) will be called Esa, Jesus, to signify, no fight.

4=This ardent devotee will be called Esa, Jesus, to indicate re-establishment of Unity of God.

5=The ardent devotee will be called Mahdi, means guided one: signifies he would get direct guidance from God [Ref; Tadhkira, words of God to him how to serve Prophet Muhammad and Quran, alislam.org (books)]
The ardent devotee would be Prophet as per (ch62:v4) and Sayings of Master Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

6=Part vi above said that Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) foretold: “c-- then again khilafat on the precept of Prophethood would be established” ….These words are for the last era. ……These words also tell that the promised reformer is a Prophet because “precept of Prophethood” is said.

7=Accordingly to Ahmadiyya Muslims, the latter days is the ongoing era of (1000 years), the Promised Messiah Mahdi as Subordinate-Prophet to Last-Law-Bearing-Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) has been sent by God the Exalted in 1889 in India for the peaceful revival of faith, to bring humanity closer to God again. Under his fifth Khilafat, the Movement has reached in 206 countries of the world by the grace of Allah the Exalted.

8=It is also proved that there is Alive God, Who and His Messenger and Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) foretold matter which are being proven before the eyes of everyone.

So the Ahmadiyya Muslims' understanding is that Esa (Jesus) is (or more properly, will be) in fact the Mahdi?

Is it stated whether it is to be the same Jesus that the Bible speaks of?

Nah. According to Islam Jesus will come back but only to declare Muhammad as his prophet. The whole of Islam is based around Muhammad being the last prophet bearing the final will of god before the end. First was Adam, then Abraham, then Jesus then Muhammad. I think there may have been others like David but I don't think they were considered one of the great prophets.

Peace be upon you.
So the Ahmadiyya Muslims' understanding is that Esa (Jesus) is (or more properly, will be) in fact the Mahdi?

Peace be on you.
According to Ahmadiyya Muslims, Esa (Jesus, on whom be peace) has come and he is also the awaited Mahdi (on whom be peace). A hadith clearly says:
"laa al-madi illa esa" i.e. Mahdi is no one but Esa i.e. Mahdi is in fact Esa. [ref: Hadith book of Ibne Majah]

As already explained earlier, Mahdi means 'the one who is guided'. It means he is taught by God himself...Actually everyone who is commissioned by God is Mahdi as first he learns from God then guides the people. e.g.

[32:25] And We made from among them leaders, who guided the people by Our command, whilst they themselves were steadfast and had firm faith in Our Signs.

Secondly, The two title of same reformer implies two properties:
By virtue of title Esa/Jesus, he has property of coolness / slow process like Esa/Jesus, a.s.

By virtue of title, he has blessings of Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

Is it stated whether it is to be the same Jesus that the Bible speaks of?

He has come with the properties of Prophet Esa/Jesus but orginal Esa/Jesus has died. Once human go, is gone for ever. [Souls of pious live in good place, they immediately enter in paradise. On the grand Hereafter Day, they will get the full manifestation of paradise and nearness of God.]

Thus the already-came Promised man is like Jesus, as John was like Elijah. God sends Prophets with the properties of other Prophets.

In fact, God have given this Reformer names of all Prophet. The reason was that he has come as subservient to Chief of Prophets, Muhammad pbuh,
