Odd.

...because:

"Varying shades of brown" is as "colorful" as one can get.
Ugh, those colors almost make me suicidal.

Forgive me, but I really fail to see the "color" in...

That is an amazing landscape!:D

But, to each their own. I cannot wait till I move to a place that actually sees snow fall again.

Snow is absolutely beautiful. I love to sit by a warm fire with a nice hot drink or glass of wine and read or just talk -- and watch the snow falling outside.

I just don't like to shovel it, walk on icy paths, or drive in it.

I'm pretty much the opposite. I walk outside 2-3 miles every day no matter how cold or snowy it gets, and then I sit outside on my patio for at least another 1/2 hour or so, either meditating or reading. If I don't do this, I quickly get four-wallitis.

Dang. Everything that was shoveled on the driveway is covered up again. And piled. So we decided to just stay inside and make a lot of food.

Snow is blowing sideways.

I can barely see the houses across the street.

Temperature is going to hit -11 F tonight. Wind chill -25 to -35.

And the fun side of such a storm is gone for a bit. We saw police and an ambulance arrive at one of our neighbor's house. She's an elderly woman that lives alone, and she didn't answer the door when paramedics arrived, which is when the police showed up. So, keep her in your thoughts if you can. She's one heck of a lady.

I've lived in the south most my life. I've been in Indiana four years. And now we're getting this. It freaks me out, and it's one of the few things (maybe the only thing) that actually scares me. Tornado? No problem, seen many. Hurricane? Been there, done that. I've even slept through an earthquake. But this scares the hell out of me.

I find driving in deep snow so much fun that I'll literally giggle.

Our town ALMOST won the contest of biggest snowfall in the St Louis area. 14 INCHES!!! WHOOT!! Even the town that the dance studio is in got 14 inches of snow.

One town just southeast of us beat everybody with 15 inches of snowfall.

But now it's all about the cold temperatures. -33 wind chill right now. All the kids are out of school. I'm closing the dance studio today. And nobody is outside playing, since, you know, frostbite can set in after 10 minutes.

I had some wine last night. And I plan on having more since I'll be experiencing cabin fever in 3....2....1....

And, since many of us have changed our plans for the day, perhaps we can take some of that free time to scan the and think about what what this weather means for far too many ...

Excellent, Jay! Many of us have been spreading the word about using whatever means possible to get the homeless and those without heat into the various warming shelters that have been established. A big one is the United Way, which will direct callers to warming shelters by calling "211" from a landline.

Thanks so much for sharing. I am certainly suffering from First World Problems right now, which is the better dilemma to have. You got me out of my cabin fever.

I'm still drinking the wine, though. Can you make it?

Sadly, we do not have a garage and I can almost guarantee that the car won't start. Also, I try to limit myself to hot toddies before noon. Guess I'll just have to love you from afar … :flower2:

Oh we can do hot toddies, too.

We don't have a garage, either. I'm looking at my car right now as a strange snow covered piece of yard decor rather than my transportation (doubt it will start either). Hubbie barely got his car to start. He got to work okay, but it took twice as long to get there, and he had to park in another parking lot and hoof it to his work on foot. :(

Big love from afar! :glomp2:

We got a foot of now. Some places around here got fifteen. Now it's time for the high temps in the negatives. The power went out for a while, but just as soon as I got the kerosene heater going, it came back on.
