I'm not too much for labels either...

When someone asks I just tell them I'm a heathen. Then they ask questions and get confused.

I confuse people and occasionally make them cry unintentionally. So I avoid the topic of my beliefs whenever at all possible. When appropriate/needed, I even go under the guise of a mormon.

Most christians in my town consider mormons to be heathens, so it follows.

I tell them after that, mormons ARE christian. And then they leave me alone.

So then I stay undercover and I get a little good PR/education into the ignorant masses for the mormon church I love so much.

It's a tough question, because it depends upon what the inquirer understands of the terms. They may not see any difference between a pagan, a witch, a wiccan, a druid and a heathen. The might combine some but not others, and in different ways than you.

I guess the first thing to figure out is how much information the person is looking for. Then decide how much time you want to take to go into it, and then try to judge how much they can understand in that time. To save time, I would proceed with a lot of questions as to what they know about the various beliefs.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I have to do all the time, too!

I guess it depends on the person...I personally like the word "witch" to describe myself. It can be a little be too broad, such as saying "Pagan". As there are different types of witches, so I usually try and be specific about what type of witch I am.

lol Tigeress!

Witch is about the most benign thing I can think to call mySelf.

Someone who PRESSED me for a
"what am I " answer the other week
brought the word "Occultist" to my lips.

The "exhuberant" do gooder christian
then came to my home the next week
under a rouse to see my oldest daughter,
then preached at her
the importance of her being a christian
and badmouthed me,
right there on my own driveway.

The next time she showed up
my daughter sent her packing.

:D

There IS no good answer for people
with their own agendas.

I can't even say I'm a "white" witch.
the Darkness is my home.

Of course no one wants to hang around long enough
to know what any of that actually means.
People prefer superstition to reason.

I prefer Maga to Witch these days.
I also like Sorceress/SourceHeiress.

But if you tell people you're a Sorceress
they'll just think Harry Potter and laugh.

Dare I tell anyone I'm Setian?
or LHP?
Sure. as long as they don't Google. :areyoucra :cover:

So you can't win.

I prefer not to use the term here in Africa. With it technically being against the law, and the ongoing witchhunts, one is carefull what labels one use.

I just call myself a canaanite.
