This does raise a point. Some people tend to assume the only ones interested in protecting the rights and liberty of LGBT people are themselves LGBT. The concept of looking out for anyone other than their own is foreign to them.

Paywall, but from what I read, the store owner sounded like a strong, courageous person. I couldn't get to the details but I suspect the gunman had neither of those qualities.

THIS IS THE REASON LGBTQ+ FOLKS HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE PROUD!

The gunman at least save the taxpayers the cost of a trial and lifetime of incarceration. He was still armed and the police had to shoot him when they found him.

The rest of the article goes on about mostly political actions. Long on projection; short on detail.

Sad to see. Our clinic has two small pride flags in the window set there by the building owner. We've gotten grumbling, being in a rural farming town with more than the average number of fundamentalist conservatives. I don't imagine that will change.
