Absolutely. Little or nothing of the head left, after such an event. No question at all-- the brain would not have time to process what was happening, before it's destruction.

Look up YouTube videos of a single rifle round hitting a watermelon...
I was just thinking of the hydraulic shock leading to explosion of melons too.

none of you know what you post about....

strap the condemned to a table
apply a gas mask
a steady flow of nitrous oxide

let him laugh at himself until he goes numb.....and dead

I submit, that if you are going to use a gas? Carbon Monoxide. In it's pure form, it's colorless, odorless, completely undetectable by the victim--erm-- the candidate. It puts one to sleep in high enough concentrations, and there is no pain. (Although low concentrations simply cause headaches, something to watch out for-- we can't be giving people headaches just before we kill them, now can we? That would be inhumane, right? Right?

Of course, government must take something so easy as killing a person,
& make it complicated, expensive & unreliable.

Part of me wishes that the death penalty could be applied properly. But I have seen it abused too often to see it as a viable answer. In my state Gary Ridgway ended up sinking the penalty. Their was no doubt that he was the Green River Killer and earned the death penalty tens of times and then some. But he disposed of so many bodies and only he knew where they were. He bartered the location of his victims for a life sentence in prison:

Gary Ridgway - Wikipedia

After that deal was made it became impossible to justify applying the death penalty to anyone.

Indeed. I do think the basic reason for this? (in the case of Official Government Death) was to "pretty it up for the unwashed masses".

I, for one, despise this to the nth degree. Death is unfortunate, and ought to be an Ultimate Last Resort. But if you must deal death, then OWN it. Quit trying to pretend you give a flying fork for the feelings of the victim--erm-- person being killed.

I'm a strong believer that people who eat sausage or want government, ought to be very aware of how either one is created....

You have to destroy the brain stem. Otherwise, it's up in the air. It would be best if they had the person kneeling or sitting infront of them, and shot them in the lower back of the head with a high powered firearm. That would be true instant death.

You know too much about this, Saint Frankenstein.

Let's conduct an experiment.
Any volunteers?
It's just science. The brain stem controls automatic functions like breathing and keeping your heart beating. That's why people who are vegetables with severe brain damage are still technically "alive" if their brain stem works and there's still basic bodily functions, even if they're in a permanent coma.

The other big parts of the brain, when exploded,
will also cause cessation of both thinking & life.

I disagree.
Ever watch the documentary, "Scanners"?

I had not seen that in years. I had absolutely forgotten how off the sound effects were. That's not the proper sound at all. I have seen melon's explode, not using explosives, and there is no gunshot sound (unless, naturally, a gun was used). It's more of a splorch or, really, what you'd expect when a medium-brittle container holding what is essentially jello, is suddenly broken open. Yes, I have accidentally dropped the occasional melon, and had it burst open.

The Foley Artist really missed an opportunity. I think he should have gone with a Wilhelm scream here.

Let's not expect too much sophistication from a Canuckistanian movie from the early 80s.

Euthanasia advocates recommend Nembutal as the best exit drug.

Here in 'Murrica, where religion has put a strong "No!" on Dying With Dignity?

The most common drug of choice, when someone has a Compassionate Doctor? Is an overdose of either sedatives or pain medication. With a "wink wink" and a "nudge-nudge--knowWhatImean" the Doctor gives the patent unlimited supply, with instructions to "take as many as needed".

And so, a wily patient who is dying a painful death, and wishes to halt that process--permanently-- takes a fatal dose, quietly going to sleep... forever.

From what I have read, this is common throughout the USA. But never formalized, and technically, illegal in most states.

But that's a subject for another page and/or day.
