Women in Paradise

Hi all,
I know some of you do not believe that men get 70 virgins in Paradise but I know that many Muslims in the world do believe this. I've also heard that men get to reunite with their Earthly wives for a certain amount of time before they leave them for a virgin in Paradise (correct me if I'm wrong).

My real question is, what happens to women in Paradise? Do they get new husbands? Do they get virgin men? What do they get and what do they do there?

Hello Madhuri

Women in Paradise will also be married

But there is a difference; they will have only one husband

If they did not marry in this life, and they want to, they will be married in Paradise

And if they were married in this life, they will be reunited with their husband in Paradise

Please note a correction in your first sentence:

Men do not leave their wives in Paradise for the virgin maidens (Hur), as the Hur are of less rank compared to worldly wives.

Women of this worldly life have a superiority over the Hur due to the acts of worship and obedience that they performed in this world.

Therefore, the believing women will enter Paradise just like the believing men. If a woman had a number of husbands, (due to divorce or death of first husband and was remarried) she, upon entering Paradise with them, would choose among them the one with the best character and behavior.

Finally, the higher pleasures of Paradise are the spiritual pleasures, and the highest of them all is seeing God, our Creator.

Thank you. But why would God offer so many women to men to have sex with? Sex is such a material pleasure and if the men are having these many other women, are they marrying them? Or is it adultery? Is adultery not sinful in Paradise?

there is no sin like thing in paradise, Satan will go to hell fire and there will be only peace in paradise. i read in a book that women of this world will be queens and head of those 70 Hoors in paradise.

Hi there madhuri, how have you been, hope all good at your end :)

Well, Scholars of Islam have some difference of opinion on this, as the word Hurr in arabic, in the Quran can be used for both genders and is not exclusively used for women. Hence, Allaah says in many places in the Quran mentioning the word Hurr as a pair, not as a singular, in which case it could be said with certainty that it is being used for women only. I believe Allaah is the most kind and generous and will be serving his obedient slaves in Heaven, hence Heaven is a place where we get whatever we want, whats difficult is, is to be persistent in striving for the pleasure of our Creator and be a candidate for heaven.

And Only Allaah knows best. The pleasures of heaven are multifold, and there'll be no sin in heaven, not even jealousy or malice towards anyone. It is said that the most delightful experience would be to see our Creator, and all praise and glory to Allaah, how magnificent that would be..:)

I personally believe that in paradise we of all genders get any and everything we want without any limitations of what so ever.

As for that specific promise for the men, they are given as a mean for encouragement to strengthen their faith. Men after all are more aggressive than women by nature so it is wise to approach them from this side, I believe.

I honestly don't take all interpretations for granted unless they are clearly stated in the Quraan. I consider them, but expect any moment to find they could have been interpreted wrong or even alienated.

I personally wouldn't worry about specifics in paradise, tho they do encourage me, as ultimately any and everything is unconditionally provided there, as God takes care of everything directly so nothing will ever go wrong, unlike this life where we are given the choice of good and evil and problems do occur and we are the ones suppose to take care of it. Even wine :D

My real question is, what happens to women in Paradise? Do they get new husbands? Do they get virgin men? What do they get and what do they do there?

As far as I know, no specifics were mentioned to answer these questions. But basically, they go to heaven just like men and get whatever they want.

I don't understand this really. Firstly, if a man's faith is strengthened by the promise of sex with many women, is it really faith? Or just hope based on lust?

And if it is God's way to encourage men, is it just a lie? I suppose you wouldn't know the answer.

Another question: since we lose what are considered to be our weak qualities that lead to sin when we reach Paradise, would we even have lust? And without lust, why would we have sex? And if we don't have sex, what's the point of that promise for sex in Paradise?

It's not written like that in the Quran, you must read whole chapters, there's nowhere written in the Quran that if you abstain from this and sin, you'll get women in paradise. That's the most ill projected dysmorph out there.
Whats mentioned is, the imagery of paradise, for the believers, and the imagery speaks of gardens of unspeakable beauty, grandeur, with blessings in it far out of the reach of human imagination, and beautiful 'pairs 'of Hurr(the inhabitants of paradise, more like the hosts n servants of paradise)

The foxnews ill worded narrative of 'do this and get seventy virgins ' is not the message of the Quran, you must read it yourself if you want to know how its written..

Well, company with women is not just about sex :)

It is not that anyways. Doing whatever in heaven is allowed since there will not be consequences as God will be taking care of us directly there, so in heaven there will be no one's gonna get hurt or annoyed no matter what is done there.

How it is encouraging actually is because God made that promise for men if they live their lives with justice and doing good deeds and leaving evil and sins in this life. It is like parents promising a children with gifts if they listen to them.

And even if it was exclusively about sex, it would still make sense, as men have stronger sex drive and desire than women. It is a natural instinct and God knows that.

Either way, that promise encourages men to avoid sinful relationships in this life, so one attempt to prevent rape or adultery for example, which makes it a good promise in my opinion.

And if it is God's way to encourage men, is it just a lie? I suppose you wouldn't know the answer.

I don't see how it could be a lie, I beg to differ. Men that follow God's teachings in doing good deeds and avoid evil and sins will get all what they were promised in the after life. Or so is my belief.

Another question: since we lose what are considered to be our weak qualities that lead to sin when we reach Paradise, would we even have lust? And without lust, why would we have sex? And if we don't have sex, what's the point of that promise for sex in Paradise?

God will let us keep all our qualities of this life because we tasted it and know how it feels and it is not fair to take it from us. The bad ones will even improve, like sweat for example will smell like musk. God in paradise will not take from us, but will give for us.

Lust, regardless being bad, is not a problem in itself, but what consequences it causes in harming society and individuals is what makes it bad and unacceptable in this life. In paradise, as I mentioned before, God will take care of that and not allow anyone to be affected by those desires when we do them there. He will make sure no harm will reach anyone at any rate.

That said, please tell if I missed anything of your above questions unanswered. It is the end of the day and fasting started to tire me a little :)

Bottom line is nothing unfair would be done to anyone.

Here is what the Qur'an says about that :
"Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do." (Al-Qur'an 16:97)

"And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deedsthat they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally." (Al-Qur'an 2:25)
Note that it doesn't say spouses for men only.

Further, according to one of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)
"Narrated Abu Huraira: the Prophet said, "Allah said, "I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.' "(Sahih Bukhari, Book 93, Number 589)

"And the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous. They will have whatever they desire with their Lord. That is the reward of the doers of good" (Al-Qur'an 39:33-34)
This verse pretty much defines the limit of what any male and female can have in paradise, that is no limit whatsoever - they can have whatever they desire.

I thought of another question.
Would you be able to have children in Paradise? For example, if a woman was unable to have children here and desperately wanted them, would she be able to fulfill that desire there?

And are your children and parents, siblings etc. still in those roles in Paradise or is it more independent?

Ma'am, you're mega fabulawesome :D

Hmm, I don't really have enough knowledge to answer those specific questions, but generally I can say about that is in paradise all desires are fulfilled unconditionally so I believe such requests won't be a problem. All we have to do, as a general rule, is think of what we want and there we have it.

Some views have it that the real feel of paradise is something that no eye has ever seen, an ear has ever heard of nor a mind has ever imagined. Such description could highly make us forget of so many wishes we had in this life. Not sure about the specifics tho.

I however know of one specific about family gathering in paradise, and it was clearly mentioned in the Quraan in many different verses. Families do see each other there. As I said before, God does not take away what we loved in this life when we go to paradise, that includes meeting with the loved ones. This also encourages those of us in this life that loved their families that the end of this life does not mean the end of family relationships and ties. God also promised us in the Quraan that He will clear our hearts from all negative emotion like jealousy and selfishness so the love of the family members will be perfectly pure.

I hope I didn't miss up so much in what I said above :)
