World’s Most Persecuted Minority

The most serious thing you've brought up is the legislation that requires a religious test in some states and the transplant survey.
Really? Cause I thought the most serious thing was being killed? Though I think you underestimate the importance of serving on a jury.

Or are we now discussing the most oppressed minority in the US. Are you asserting *that* is Christian?

No, I was talking about out of the examples you brought up in the US.

No, Christians aren't persecuted in America.

I remember belonging to a church that taught Christians are persecuted everyone, and everyone that isn't a Christian is out to get them and force their religion out of the public eye. It makes the world seem like a very scary place. It's also very ironic, because many of these groups also preach that public prayer is illegal, and that Christians get into trouble over praying in school.

I already did in my first post to you in this thread.

No, I can understand. I'm not white, I'm trans and I'm not straight. Plus, those areas have a strong current of anti-Catholicism. Even here in Ohio, there's a lot of anti-Catholicism. We get told that we're going to hell, that we "worship" Mary and that we were Baptized "wrong". I had arguments in school about that and I was driven to tears at one point because people were ganging up on me . Those people don't like anyone who is not like them. Atheists aren't set aside for some special treatment in those areas.

I can see why you might make that comparison, but I do not think it is the same as. Perhaps you should listen to Atheists on Air. They tell their own stories as well as have callers coming in to say what they face on a daily basis in where they live.

And where do they live? The deep South? A hick town? If so, then being mistreated because you're different is pretty expected.

Maybe thats because american christians cry persecution when they are called out on their unnecessary comments

And those people are idiots, but that's not what I'm doing.

You see what you want to see it seems. Too bad.

Wrong.

It's definitely true that Christians certainly rank as one of the world's most persecuted minorities.
What about Jews? They're smaller in number (a minority compared to Christians) and most definitely persecuted in every country the Christians are persecuted, and probably in more countries than the Christians. I'd say Jews are the most persecuted minority in the world.

I remember my last church going on and on about how people wanting religion out of government is persecution against them, you absolutely cannot say Merry Christmas, scientist are out to disprove religion force it out of the public sphere, no more school lead prayer in public school was an all out assault on Christianity, that pop culture media is trying to smother Christianity, and that trying to find the most generic way to acknowledge a holiday time celebrated by several religions that are all present and accounted for in your culture is more persecution. And, of course, their freedom of speech was under attack any time someone called them out or told them to shut up. I can't believe I stayed as long as I did.

Really? I'm not aware of large persecutions of Jews in the world at the moment.

Based on their small representation of the global population, they're at a higher index.

Jews are persecuted in 95 countries in the world today (according to Pew), but only comprise of 1% of the world population, while Christians (110 countries) and Muslims (109 countries) together represent more than 50% of the world population. So as a ratio of capita, Jews could be considered to be persecuted more.

If you would go only by social and governmental harassment, Muslims are a bit higher than Christians.

Interesting. I'd like to see the data for that.

I'd say even more persecuted than the Jews are the Mormons, who are even fewer in numbers and they take alot of crap from society. Historically there have been more severely persecuted, such as the Jews, but in president day America I'd say the Mormons probably have it the worst as far as religious minorities groups go.
Those who easily have it worse than Jews and Christians are those of the GLBT community. But why are we arguing it anyways? No decent person deserves to be treated poorly, and it should be the fact that humans are being persecuted over things that everyone should enjoy the right to. That is what should be the focus. Of course there are some really loony and paranoid Christians here in America that scream persecution, but there are some parts of the world where they are being butchered. Ethnic genocide still happens. If someone claims their group is the most persecuted in the world, there is a fairly good chance that the very fact they are alive and able to communicate that thought probably means some other group has it worse on a global scale.

Is harassment persecution?
They have multiple graphs and tables for different kinds and levels of persecution. Harassment was only one of them.

To really get a good comparison, we'd have to define what persecution means, and the exact number of each represented group in each country, and also definitions of each group. Is a coptic christians the same as a pentecostal? In some places, there's been conflict between christian groups, so is that considered persecution of christians when other christians are doing it? (Thinking of the conflict between Ireland)
