Pretty much expected by such a bad performance from both Trump and Biden. We are screwed either way.

Trump (who I am certain will be the next POTUS). Respects and likes Putin.
Putin likes Trump but does not respect him.
Putin hates Biden.
If your Putin its easy which candidate to support.Although Trump may not want or be aware of Russian assistance. If we were Putin logically he would want to aid Trump through surreptitious campaign donations and social media postings. He cannot afford for Trump to lose.Putin needs a docile USA president who will stop and block arms to Ukraine. If Putin allows Ukraine to win Bortnikov and Nikolai Patrusev and the FSB will move Putin to a retirement home.Putin is still in great shape on his recent visit to the East in June he was fitter and half the weight of some of the leaders he visited.Ambition may mean he does not stop at Ukraine.
Biden was of topic on abortion he talked about something else.He said around 15k re jobs created was it meant to be 15m jobs created?
Biden needs to go.

USA only needs to say they do not recognise any territory Ukrainian gives up under duress and will not lift sanctions.USA does not need to send men and women into battle.Trump says he has a solution which he refused to say.
The world thinks his answer will be total capitulation to please Putin.

I rather prefer the opinion voiced by The Philadelphia Inquirer ...

President Joe Biden’s debate performance was a disaster. His disjointed responses and dazed look sparked calls for him to drop out of the presidential race.
But lost in the hand wringing was Donald Trump’s usual bombastic litany of lies, hyperbole, bigotry, ignorance, and fear mongering. His performance demonstrated once again that he is a danger to democracy and unfit for office.

In fact, the debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump.

When asked to choose between incoherent and inhumane, the choice should be easy.

And on the flip side...both, yours and mine are opinion pieces.

To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race

The good news is that as badly as Biden did in the debate he has lost almost no ground to Trump yet. In fact in his speech yesterday he was a totally different Biden. Unlike Trump he admits when he did not do well. He admitted to doing poorly but claimed correctly that at least he can tell the truth. Not everything that he claimed in the debate was one hundred percent accurate. But when you compare the number of the lies that both sides made it is clear that he lied far less and did not tell outright whoppers as Trump did. It appears that the American populace is more discerning that I thought. When I saw how badly Biden did I was all gloom and doom too, but it is the middle of America that counts for this election. It is not the brain dead MAGA that will decide or the overly optimistic Democrats. They made their minds up long ago. It is the people in the middle that need to be convinced and Trump does not appear to have convinced them:

That’s why some people, many people perhaps, vote for him, though. Many people don’t want complicated realities, they want someone to blame for their own frustrations.
Of course. That is why neofascist populism is dangerous.

Which maybe all the more reason to change the debate away from Biden and directly to where does the country need to go from here. For all of the neithers, Biden could be a major leader and hand the baton to the next generation. Harris-Whitmer, fill in the blanks, we are beyond the point of polite negotiation over direction and need to just start calling out the lies in 21st century form.

I'm waiting for a while to make up my mind about this.

If Biden did have a cold and that was it, then he should be able to return to (his) normal level and carry on. I'm sure we have all experienced a drop in our mental performance when we don't feel well. On the other hand, if he has something like dementia, he shouldn't be President. Hopefully the truth will emerge and a good practical decision will be made. I have felt for some time that the Dems should have been grooming an alternative for at least the past two years, just to be ready for something like this. Too late for that, unfortunately.

When asked to choose between incoherent and inhumane, the choice should be easy.

I agree. These are not normal times (did they ever exist?) where we have the luxury of voting for either candidate and in general things continue well enough. Stopping Trump is the main objective.

And for that reason Biden's competency is not the really the issue, but how he is perceived, he has the ability, at least in comparison to the alternative, but a sufficient minority question this due to propaganda. A statesman-like maneuver may be appropriate in this case.

There is no good choice
There is no perfect choice. But defeating Trump is a huge accomplishment in itself. And Biden has done well in his first term, the question is whether he can keep it up. If a coach full of people is headed towards a cliff, I don't much care who grabs the wheel and steers it to safety. Just don't let the guy who wants it to go over the cliff steer.

Added to this, it won't all be over if Biden or another Democrat wins. There's a lot of work to do and no certainty of the outcome. (Maybe another thread on this).
Would you rather cut off your right hand or your left hand? Neither is a good choice.
Left hand, I'm right handed. Sometimes uncomfortable decisions have to be made, you don't get the choice to keep both hands.

Bidens competency is the main issue.

But I do hope the lefties keep going with that.

All the better for a group that can't or won't tell that they have a senile old man in 'charge'.

Keep up the charade. Looks real good for the left. Actually shows how astute and smart they are.

When it comes to Biden's competency vs that Trump, Trump is the loser. No question.
But I do hope the lefties keep going with that.

It is not just the "lefties" that can see this. I was extremely worried about the man in the middle, but so far the debate does not appear to have affected them. They too are seeing that Trump is corrupt and cannot return.

Please, you support Trump. "Senile" is nowhere near as bad as delusional.

Dude, ease off the Kool Aid. Once again, it is the man in the middle that tends to decide elections. They are beginning to see that the wanna be emperor is wearing no clothes and it is not a pretty sight.

Yes becasue he did not have to asnswer questions. It is obvious that if he has to think about answering a question he is impaired.

yet the white house and KJP lie everyday. Do you care about that?
