Mayan calendar runs out in December, which coincides with the 11 year cycle of Solar maximum. Super-EMP in the form of a solar flare wipes out all technology. Anarchy, starvation, no more internet prawn. Mass hysteria. Dogs and cats living together. Mel Gibson wears football pads and saves... um... the highway from... um... that guy from the Cure and his shiny silver boyfriend.

I'm sure we'll pull through thoroughly, though. Thoughts?

Sunspot numbers are a pretty good indicator of solar activity; and although the solar maximum will occur in late 2012-early 2013, it's likely to be a relatively low maximum. Having looked at weather data for the last hundered years, I've noticed that extremes in temperature and weather tend to correlate with solar minima...

...so according to this, the world should have ended in the late 1600's. It would have been the perfect time too what with outbreaks of plagues, religious persecution, and widespread violence and warfare. The world is only going to get more peaceful, so if Jesus H. Christ is going to come back and usher in a new era of peace in a fallen world, he'd better hurry up. We humans may figure it out soon without divine intervention.

Much of what you posted sounds like the sum of history, save for earthquakes which are not on the increase (they just happen so frequently many people think they are occurring more frequently). There have always been female singers, there have always been oppressive regimes, there has always been homosexuality (many cultures had no word or concept to distinguish between homosexuality and heterosexuality), there have always been gender-benders (some cultures have even revered such people), there have always been varying degrees of nudity that are tolerated (such as tribes where women typically do not wear tops), there have always been instances of sudden death for various reasons, and there have always been rape, fornication, broken family ties, and so on. Your alleged signs are not unique, and have been happening since our species has existed.

The world ended long ago. This is the afterlife.
If this is the afterlife, I'd hate to see what life was before.

Thank you for your comments, but i aint discussing if that signs already happened, was true or false..etc,that wasn't my target.

My question for debate was as follow

What is the signs of warning that the world is close to it's end according to your religion ?

i just mentioned what have been recorded in my religion and hope to see the other religion thoughts and predictions.

i aint going to debate the veracity of each prediction because it wasn't my purpose of this thread.

In Buddhism, as in most Eastern religions, there is no real 'end of the world' to speak of. The world, the solar system, galaxy, the entire universe, goes through cycles. And the ending of one cycle is the beginning of another. So, things start off good, get progressively worse, followed by a spiritual awakening of sorts, and another cycle starts all over. The only real sign that one cycle is about to end, followed by the coming of a new Buddha and the beginning of another cycle, is that the Buddha's teachings would be forgotten. But this is about it.

Yes, that's pretty much Baha'i Scriptures says too, as well as others.

ok, But how do we know, in 3.5 billion years, when science can progress so much, human cannot find another planet in another galaxy to move to and save his life?

This isn't a bad point, but I would ask the question, what makes us think we'll be here that long, or even long enough to colonize other planets? We seem to be doing a pretty good job now of killing ourselves off.

If you ask me, humanity in general and over all is better now in comparison to previous Ages and specially before the mid 19th century.
Even in recent years and in the last couple of centuries we see great and unbelievable changes.
Up till just a few decades ago, the women in America and Europe didn't have the right to vote.
Just a couple of hundred years ago, the slavery was a normal thing to do, in America and European countries, who are the most advanced.
Even Black people used to be treated unfairly in America, but Now president of USA is a Black man.
We see generally a better social system. We have UN, although not perfect, but still a kind of world government to monitor the world justice.
We have many human right organizations.

None of these existed ever before in previous Ages.
In terms of science, Medicine, and etc, humanity is also in a much advanced level, which is not even comparable in previous Ages.

Just some facts!

All good points, but think about things this way:

With all the advances in science and technology, we've become conceited and lazy.
With hundreds of great philosophical and religious thinkers behind us, we've become apathetic.
Women now have the right to vote, question is, is there anyone worth voting for, who's not just saying what we want to hear, but in the end is just after money, fame, etc.?
There's no more slavery of the African people, now, the poor and underprivileged are slaves to the rich.
A better social system, one that teaches us that material possessions are the only things that make us human and even worthwhile, and that if we don't have the newest car, the biggest house, the fanciest cell phone, we're nothing?
Our advances in medicine have given us Viagra. We haven't cured anything since polio, and even that's making a comeback.
Everything we've achieved in recent memory has been for vthe betterment of the rich, and to further bring down those who aren't part of the 'in crowd'.
Call me cynical, but that's the way I see things.

Surely I agree that there are negative things in the World. I also believe the kind of evilness that exist in the World is by far eviler than every other previous Age.
But at the same time, I would say, humanity from the time it came to existence had gone through stages in Ages, that just like an embryonic would go until it reaches the stage of maturity. So, I believe that humanity would become more mature, gradually.

What is the signs of warning that the world is close to it's end according to your religion ?

Some warnings mentioned in Islam

Adultery and fornication will be performed in the open
The consumption of intoxicants will be widespread (Bukhari & Muslim)

Adultery and fornication will be prevalent (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that this has never happened without new diseases befalling the people, which their ancestors had not known.) (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah, & Al-Haythami)

Children of fornication will become widespread or prevalent (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)

Episodes of sudden death will become widespread (Ahmad)

There will be people who will be brethren in public but enemies in secret (He was asked how that would come about and replied, "Because they will have ulterior motives in their mutual dealings and at the same time will fear one another.") (at-Tirmidhi)

When a man obeys his wife and disobeys his mother; and treats his friend kindly while shunning his father (at-Tirmidhi)

Leaders of people will be oppressors (Al-Haythami)

Men will begin to look like women and women will begin to look like men

Family ties will be cut (Ahmad)

There will be many women of child-bearing age who will no longer give birth.

When men lie with men and women lie with women (homosexuality/lesbianism) (Al-Haythami)

A man will leave his home and his thigh or hip will tell him what is happening back at his home (Ahmad)

When people begin to compete with others in the construction of taller buildings (Bukhari)

Women will be naked in spite of being dressed, these women will be led astray & will lead others astray (Muslim)

Earthquakes will increase (Bukhari & Muslim)

Wealth will increase so much so that if a man were given 10,000, he would not be content with it (Ahmad & Bukhari)

Female singers and musical instruments will become popular (at-Tirmidhi)
When singers become common (Al-Haythami)
People will dance late into the night

The people of Iraq will recieve no food and no money due to oppression by the Romans (Europeans) (Muslim)

Great distances will be traversed in short spans of time

People will walk in the marketplace with their thighs exposed

Miserliness will be thrown into the hearts of people (Bukhari)

When a trust becomes a means of making a profit (at-Tirmidhi, Al-Haythami)
Gains will be shared out only among the rich, with no benefit to the poor (at-Tirmidhi)

The disappearance of knowledge and the appearance of ignorance (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah, & Ahmad) .Books/writing will be widespread and (religious) knowledge will be low (Ahmad)

People will hop between the clouds and the earth

Well, all I can offer is this...

...people since the dawn or recorded history have insisted that the "end times" are near, by whatever signposts they point to in their days...

...and so far, the failure rate of such prophecies/predictions has remained at a steady and constant 100%.

Impressive, for inaccuracy and failure anyway :)

I think that ultimately the world is how we choose to see it.

Whenever I hear people lament the way things are, I remember the quote by Socrates:

“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.”

And that was back then. :)

I agree with Anais Nin that we don't see things as they are, but rather as we are. The world we see is defined by our chosen perceptions. This is why you can have one person listing all the wonderful things that have been accomplished in the world while another sees only setbacks.

I believe it has more to do with the world inside us than it does the one outside.

One of the signs and warning is the acidity of the water rain

Rain will be acidic or burning (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)

My question is how raining will become acidic,is it happening nowadays or it may happen in the near future, what causes acidic rains,is it true in science that water rain can be turn to acidic .

Any idea !

And that's why women must don the burkas; to protect their flesh from the acidic rain. That allah, he's so clever.
