Would Bill Gates or Michael Bloomberg have made good Presidents ?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
This is a myth. Business people have no idea at all how to get things done in the political world. It is nothing like running a business, in which the CEO can give orders and people jump.
Businessman do know what lawyers are all about. Most screw-ups and troublemakers in government are lawyers and its lawyers who have all but taken over the government. What profession do you think is best for proper government management?

As for myself, Id rather have a businessman any day of the week in charge of our GDP than any lawyer out there as I cannot think of any background that would suffice as being better.

Since the job of politicians is to make law, and to make persuasive arguments to their peers and to the public, it seems to me that the law is not a bad training. That will be why there are many lawyers in politics. A sprinkling of businessmen, educators, scientists and people from the military etc would all be helpful, to bring specialist knowledge and experience of the world outside politics into the political arena. Maybe even a few prostitutes and circus trapeze artists. :D

Just don't run away with the idea that businessmen make good political leaders. There is no reason to think that that should be the case.
