Would God punish his servants?

No I don't think that ^^ at all.
I think the way people interpret Scripture and God is to blame.
Opinions are only opinions worth nothing.
Back up statements with sources might add some credibility to
a mere opinion.

But then Priestess of Lucifer is off with Lilith someplace.
:D

But then who or what is to do to correct a misinterpretation of the scriptures? What are the processes involved?

People like to blame things on God that are not God's fault. If someone smokes cigarettes and gets cancer they may said God punished them. But they did it to themselves. Secondly, many people pretend to be Christian or actually think they are Christian when they are not. Anyone who is a true
christian will not be a bigot or trouble maker. Just because he works in a church or other people have good thoughts about him does not make ghim a Christian.

There is a fallacy called a true Scotsman which suggests that one can still deviate and still be considered in the same category.

What defines a true Christian? Why aren't so many of these other Christians not able to correct themselves?

He must like to take His time. There was an article in the newspaper at the time that said an old article from an old Galveston TX hurricane asked why saloons always seemed to survive... :)

That happened in 1900.

We also note that the Roman Empire had lots of gay people, but it's only after Christianity was made legal did the Empire fall....

Or just because He left the Disaster Mode on during His Sim City game... :)

It was kind of like a miracle: even now, you can drive around in the French Quarter and see where the flood suddenly seems to stop where the "nightclub scene" is. Keep in mind that it's not like Bourbon Street is much higher in elevation than the others. It's like the flood just ... stopped ... at a particular intersection ....

Israel isn't God and we shouldn't treat it like one.

Inciting hatred and violence and denying (usually) that one is doing it. On TV. In front of thousands.

Why accept Jesus died for their sins when Jesus never talked about homosexuality? In Matt 19:12, which is as good as we are going to get in terms of gender issues, he notes that some men are without balls and we should just accept. So, Jesus was saying we should lay off the trans folk who were born or made that way. Can't we generalize that to gay people as well? Should Jesus ask Jesus for forgiveness for letting John lie on his lap during supper?

A rotten apple is still an apple, despite how much the other apples don't want to admit it.

Yes God is slow at punishing sinners. Even waiting thousands of years.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Louisiana floods destroy home of Christian leader who blamed natural disasters on gay people

Why would God punish his own with the same type of punishment that this Christian leader predicted against homosexuals? One is a servant while the other is a sinner.
I think this answer is reasonable.
"The Bible doesn’t teach that God is behind the natural disasters we see today. God’s judgments as described in the Bible are quite different from natural disasters.

  1. God is selective. The Bible says: “Man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is.”—1 Samuel 16:7.

  2. Jehovah reads the hearts of individuals and destroys only those he deems wicked.—Genesis 18:23-32.

  3. God sends warnings first, thereby giving those who listen to him the opportunity to escape.
Natural disasters, on the other hand, strike with little or no warning, and they kill and maim indiscriminately. To some extent, mankind has made such disasters worse by damaging the natural environment and by building in areas prone to earthquakes, floods, and extreme weather." JW.ORG

Hmmm, now that was cruel and below the belt - in this case with John and Jesus, literally.:)

Maybe men were born that way because their spirit jumped the queue in the family gene pool. If true, then that is selfishness.

Maybe Jesus accepts 2 men together as long as innocent children are not included in the rituals like they are in the Vatican.

Oh please.
The same translation process used for all the other
translations of the Christian Bible.
People skilled in interpreting ancient languages
into modern languages.
How many different translations of the Christian Bible
are in existence?
TRANSLATION ERRORS IN THE KING JAMES VERSION

Do some googling and learn.

If the K.J.V. was the best why do others exist?
TRANSLATION ERRORS IN THE KING JAMES VERSION

WHICH AFFECT THE INTERPRETATION OF BIBLE PROPHECY
Google some history on the K.J.V.
Understand it was ordered by a king and not much
money was given to research and translation accuracy.
And it wasn't smart to tick off a king now was it?

I've been studying religion with emphasis on
Christianity for some 30 years.
( I also hold two degrees. I'm not am amateur at
research.)

As a WAYYYYYYYYYYYY of topic remark I was watching the Presidential festivities and
MRS. President Trump is elegant!
The MOST beautiful First Lady ever.
Put politics aside; she is gorgeous.

Can't punish the sinners if they've been dead for thousands of years. I'm sure the victims of said sinners were happy to note that while God isn't going to help them, He will do something vague and unprovable at some point in the far future, when no one even remembers these people even existing.

While my brother and I are hetero, we also like to joke that we were brought in by the Drunk Stork from Looney Tunes, as our father was definitely resentful that I'm more into working on machines and my brother is more into naming fashionistas and such.

And it's only cruel if you think being gay is an insult, which I don't, because I'm secure in my sexuality. :)
