voted "meh". I really don't think she will stop the rot in the U.S. Economic and political system, and may further entrench the inequalities with neoliberal policies and allow the political polarisation to aggravate. She isn't going to heal the country or take it in a new direction.

Speaking as one who is not (thankfully) a citizen of or resident of the USA, I'd say she will make as good a president as that country is capable of getting. The whole process, from choosing a candidate to the Electoral College, is a joke to the rest of the world. The obscene amount of money spent, the obstacles in the way of voting, and the gerrymandering are a scandal to the rest of the world.

She may be a bit of a weasel, but that's what it takes. If she wins, she cannot guarantee having the Democrats controlling both houses. Even if she could, she cannot guarantee that all the Democrats would support all her policies. The US constitution is deliberately designed to minimise government action, and to get anything done the president has to be able to wheedle or bully (think LBJ!) As for her being a liar, so am I when the need arises. At least she's not making promises she could never deliver, like Bernie and the Donald.

She has the capability of being a good president, but it's impossible to see how that could play out. No serious person doubts her intelligence, but she is a very political person, and this latter point could undermine her. Either way, she's certainly in my book a far better bet to do well versus Trump, the latter of which would be an extremely divisive person in office, no doubt.

If there's such a thing as a "standard" American president, she'll be it. She's obviously a competent politican and manager, and I do not expect any surprises from her administration, unless you count the doomsday Republican types being surprised when she doesn't "come for their guns" her first day in office. But then, they don't seem to notice that Obama never did that either. I don't really like her, but none of the things I dislike her for - the militarism, the croneyism, the dirty dealings in other countries - would be any better under any president likely to be elected.

Not to argue, but did you notice the word "capability" that I used in my last post? Now whether she'd use it, heaven knows.

I wouldn't call this arguing. =)

Yeah, I saw that. I think she's capable as is Trump to be president. They're both very smart individuals. The subjective question is if they'll be good presidents. I don't know if that will be the case but, IMO, Clinton will be a better president than Trump, but that's not saying much either.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I can't think of one good thing that has benefited the nation and she's already been tested and lacking in the political realm.

Trump is untested as a politiction, so things remain to be seen.

I prefer the wild card. See if anything goes in a new direction.

I wouldn't call Trump untested; he's a very powerful man, and has been in the public eye for a long time. If you want the country to look like either a fairly successful TV reality show or a failed start-up business, I'd say he's your guy.

And we need to remember some other characteristics about Trump as well. For example, many have cited Hillary for lying at times, and rightfully so, but Trump trumps Hillary in spades, according to Politifact. Many got on Bill's case for having affairs, and rightfully so, but Trump's been married three times, cheated on at least on of his wives, and still brags about his many affairs. Trump has many mistakes in the foreign relation area when he talks, something that Hillary does not have a problem with. Trump has publicly demeaned two religious groups, at least one nationality, a physically-handicapped man, and made fun of many others.

He is more than an embarrassment already-- he's so profoundly unpredictable so as to not be trusted, so sarcastic, so inept-- can one hardly wonder why the British House of Commons was considering taking a vote to ban him several months ago?
