Would teachers show bias

What I tell children is limited.
Then you should it would be the same for them. Why would you assume otherwise? Or should I ask, do you assume otherwise?

Do you assume they might have some personal "agenda", and tell them things they shouldn't, like you wouldn't? Why would you assume that, if you do? Upon what basis? Are you suspicious of the motives of others who are different from yourself? These are good questions to ask.

Do you think I should tell them about "this one time in Bangkok?"

Like I said I limit what I tell children.

If someone teaches math or history...I wonder how one's sexual orientation can influence the teaching.

Do you believe they wouldn't? Do you disrust them, whereas you trust yourself, or those who are more like you?

They wouldn't what???

Read my post again....

Did you read my post and respond to it? I asked you a lot of pertinent questions, and you ignored them all. I'd like an honest response from you to them:

For example...many years ago...a 37 year old substitute teacher volunteered to tutor five 13 year old boys who really needed math tutoring. Not to be failed.
The tutoring took place at school, after school hours. Or during PE class.
But one bad day the PE teacher went to look for the five kids...and found them with the substitute teacher in a unused classroom.
She was shocked. The teacher was lying naked on several desks assembled together.
And the five kids were all around her.

I don't know...maybe she was teaching them female biology.

This anecdote shows that heterosexuality isn't always riskless.

You questioned why I limit what I tell kids. You seemed to disagree.
You asked questions that weren't pertinent.
I tried explaining to you why. You still didn't understand.
So... Should I tell children about my sexual experiences throughout life or limit what I tell them?

You have an unmentioned (fundamentalist Christian) in that question. A straight UU religious teacher? A straight reconstructionist Jewish teacher? A straight liberal Christian teacher? A straight pagan teacher?

"religious" regardless of what that religion is.

Everyone has bias. But how it or if it would show wouldn't be the same for everyone in any of these groups. None of them are monolithic.

I certainly did not disagree. In fact I said you should assume they would limit what they say too, and I questioned why you suspect that they wouldn't. I thought that was really clear in my post.

So... Should I tell children about my sexual experiences throughout life or limit what I tell them?
You should limit them. Now, do you assume they wouldn't??? Why not, if you don't? Please answer this.

For any professional work environment, you stay away from religion, politics, family preferences - it's not professional.

When I was a teen, I helped get an English teacher fired for bringing religion into class... world lit class, was supposed to have literature from all countries and cultures, but she turned it into Christian literature class - told everyone the only recognized legit literature was Christian, challenged us to create a list of classical books that wasn't... we made a new list of books for class, had a different teacher after that.

Interesting. If I think of my high school teachers...I fail to believe one of them was a staunch Christian.
In my opinion they were all atheists to some extent.

Would any of these teachers show bias in teaching children about life, health, and/or humans based on their own lives?
1. A straight religious teacher
2. A straight atheist teacher
3. A gay teacher
4. A transgender teacher
5. A bisexual teacher
6. A lesbian teacher
Point of order, aren't lesbians "gay"? Maybe you should have had 6. Homophobic bigot teacher. or MAGA teacher.

As for the question ... possibly there will be some bias as a teacher will certainly defend their lifestyle.

All teaching is biased. All humans are biased. Bias is unavoidable. So the questions become about the effect of our various biases. And how do we identify their negative effects so we can counteract the bias that is generating them.

IMO, everyone is biased.
But the question is whether they would show it.
IDK, I'd imagine it depends on if they take steps to avoid their own bias.
That usually takes a lot of self awareness and caring for each individual child.
Some have that, some do not.
Of course any one picking a set of numbers/teachers would be showing their own bias.
I think the honest answer is IDK.

In my 30 years of teaching, it wasn't bias that was the problem with regard to sex ed, but it was the inability for some teachers to talk about it at all, because of their hang-ups. There were many years when colleagues asked me to switch with them for that portion of the curricula.

"religious" regardless of what that religion is.
Which brings up an interesting question. Looking at the list in the OP.

Why do you think "religious" or "atheist" is relevant if the teacher is straight, but you don't mention it if the teacher is gay or lesbian or trans?
