Would you die for God?

jackvincent

Member
As of late I have been feeling compelled by God to die as a sacrifice. I can't claim what compels me, instinct, intuition, love. My death would be quite brutal and it's terrifying.

I am fearful of death but if God is commanding it surely it must be what needs to be done?

Would you be willing to lay down your life for the Creator?

If necessary, yes. However, how can we be assured we are dying for some good reason? If someone jumps in front of someone to save them from a gunman, sure, they protected the person ... unless the gunman has more than one bullet and both of you die anyway. I am unconvinced many "sacrifices" do the job.

If you're thinking of suicide, PLEASE reach out to someone. Thoughts of suicide are not divine in the least.

My question would be, 'why would God need anyone to die for Him?' Seems like that is putting limits on an all powerful creator.

I don't feel as though it is suicide but rather God working through me to kill myself. They say God works through His creation so how could I be steered wrong? God is both good and evil.

What god would work through someone to make them kill themselves? That's not a god, it's a deranged psychopath. Do find someone you are close with and can confide in, and professional help if those thoughts get stronger or do not go away.

compelled by God

can't claim what compels me
Seems contradictory to your other statement.

My death would be quite brutal
Hopefully not messy or illegal. We do not discuss illegal actions we are considering here or have performed. It breaks rule 6 of forum rules and creates work for us moderators. Do not create work for me. Thanks, friend!

I am fearful of death
Is that a Buddhist image on your avatar? "There is neither death nor birth" means among other things there is nothing to be afraid of in death. Think of it this way: you are already dead in the future. At the moment it only seems like you aren't. Billions of people have died successfully, and you will have no difficulty accomplishing the same task. Do you think your birth is any less frightening or suffocating than death could possibly be? There's nothing like birth. You should try it sometime. When you die your body will panic, and systems will race to keep you alive. Even some of your cells will 'Reboot' and attempt to return from death. If you are asphyxiated, you will jerk and feel great pain followed by loss of consciousness and probably your last thought will be "Darn." If you die in flames you will encounter an experience that few others do and that everyone is slightly curious about. Everyone will want to ask you about the experience, but of course you won't answer. I've never heard of anyone laughing to death, but theoretically its possible. Maybe you will have the misfortune to experience it.

For the Creator? It is part of what you are. You aren't made to last more than a hundred years, and you are going to die someday. Its not like your death is some special present that the Creator can appreciate. Everybody dies already. Its like giving the Creator a leaf that you find on the ground or some air that you've just breathed out.

My overall feeling is that you are having mental health issues that desperately need to be addressed. If you have no other options, go see a priest, a loved one or even go to your local ER. People are ready and waiting to help.

More to the point, "Would god be willing to die for me?"

There is no logical reason why God would want you to die. If you are having those thoughts please seek medical help. You are not well and not thinking clearly.
Take care.

Well given myself amongst others share survival Instincts and a penchant for self-preservation...............

Short answer is if I was still a theist, probably. At least in a romantic sense of the term.

Realistically though, if ever faced with such a situation, its not likely to have ever occurred. Most people break under pressure or duress and instinctively go into self-preservation mode. Maybe some resistance at first, but not when it comes down to the wire.

Why would a loving creator demand a brutal death in the first place?

Psychiatric help is available in many places. I think you should that into consideration.

No. To me that's contradicting the point of life. Why give your life for someone who is not in need of your life in order to survive?

Why is your sacrifice more valuable than your life to god?

God would not be working through you to kill yourself. If that is really the way you are feeling, stop right there and talk to someone. There is help available. You should reach out to a qualified counselor or therapist. You are Gods creation. Why would God want you to destroy yourself? Answer; He wouldn't.

Yes I would lay down my life for the Creator. I don't want to live. I just hope and pray my death will be quick and painless...

Don't try to kill yourself... I jumped off a building May 23rd and I broke my pelvis, broke my back in two places, broke my arm , had a head injury, and tore up my knees, and had a bladder injury...I was in a wheelchair urinating myself...it was complete misery!

You could always fail at suicide and leave yourself completely disfigured or paralyzed for the rest of your life....a failed overdose could leave you a drooling vegetable...GET PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!

God doesn't want your sacrifice. He would rather you stay alive and help other people. That is more valuable than any sacrifice. Besides if He wanted you dead, you would be dead already. He doesn't need you to perform that act for Him.
