No. I think we sometimes get on each other's nerves a bit when we disagree, but I think that's mostly due to personality differences.

There are only a handful of people that I've been tempted to ignore and they tend to fall into one or two categories:

1.) People who are abusive and/or actively engage in hate speech, or otherwise defend prejudice. You have never, ever come close to this, as far as I'm aware.

2.) People who literally cannot be reasoned with, often because they're a fideist or a metaphysical nihilist or an epistemic non-cognitivist, or because they actively promote magical thinking. Again, I don't think you've ever done this.

Conversations with people in the above two groups can honestly erode my sanity sometimes, because they are both actively hostile to reason. They fully intend to tear me down and are willing to say just about anything they think will succeed in that. They have not succeeded and I've used them to build up more mental fortitude, though.

You would be on ignore if that were possible,
I was and rightly so, very annoyed with you.

But then I'd have missed your thinking better of
previous action, and contracting me looking to make peace.

And I'd have missed making a friend.

I decided to make this thread out of sheer curiosity. Please answer as directly as you wish.

The poll is anonymous.

Nope, your thread's are usually pretty interesting and on the odd occasion you've been giving me **** it's either quite funny or i deserved it.

I have a couple of handfuls on ignore, some have left the forum, a couple i have been instructed by your good self or other hierarchy to ignore. The remainder are there because I don't want to get banned.

If it mattered I might put onto an ignore list someone who was always posting lots of white space and gobbledygook...or if they were inciting me to anger a lot. That would be rare on RF, however. We have rules and moderation. I tend to patronize annoying people rather than get angry with them; but you aren't annoying me or angering me.

We don't usually post in the same threads, either. When we do, you usually have a very different view of things. I suppose that is slightly annoying. Everyone ought to agree with me.

Ten years ago, I did put a couple of members onto my ignore list. It was only that they seemed interested in annoying me. (One person claimed that I was a master mason that they had followed here from another forum. I had a good laugh. I don't remember whether I put them onto ignore or if they got themselves banned.) All kinds of people find the internet, and they are quite interesting.

No.
We need them to put us on <ignore>
Exactly. Or we need a "whisper" function so that only (self) selected people can read a post.
E.g. off topic jokes by @Revoltingest. Mark the post as "joking" and people can select whether they want to see jokes or not. (Could also be simulated by using spoilers.)

I currently have 61 people on Ignore, though I suspect about half may no longer be active. These are all people who I have found annoying, idiotic, barking mad, or some linear combination of the three.

You would not qualify in any of these categories.:)

P.S. This has stimulated me to tidy up my Ignore list. I've removed people whose profile has disappeared, presumably indicating they've been banned or otherwise had their accounts deleted, and those who have not posted within the last 2 years. That brings the list down to about 30.
