Would you take this pill to never sleep again if you could?

Ha. You know, I've still never performed that. With my son's school choir and orchestra, we got as far the the day of the performance at Southwark Cathedral - and then Covid struck, causing the head master to call it off. I listened to it last night after reading your post and found myself singing along gently - think I can remember most of it. I still hope to sing it one day.

Let's say scientists invent a little pill that you only have to take once ever your whole life.

The effect: It replaces any and all need for sleep. You will never feel tired, your brain will function normally, you'll retain your memories, your body will recharge just the same except you won't need to sleep. It doesn't shorten your life, it doesn't affect you in any other way other than you're awake 24/7.

Basically imagine pulling an all-nighter every night without ever feeling any of the negative side-effects of sleep deprivation.

The only downside: You'll never be ABLE to sleep again. No more dreaming, no more shutting your eyes and being away from the world for a while, no more comforting daytime naps, no more going off into a nice comfy sleep cuddling with your partner, no more dozing off to compensate for boredom... You'll never sleep again, not even for 5 minutes.

Would you take it?
Is meditation still possible?
