X-Men 3, anyone?

I saw it and enjoyed it... it's altogether fun movie that I just saw to be entertained: accomplished. I downloaded the soundtrack off of iTunes when I returned home. The music has an Arabic-ish tone to it... somewhat odd but unique. What did you think of the movie, if you've seen it? Better than the first two?

Despite what many have assumed from the title "The Last Stand," they're planning on continuing the saga. For more info, see these sites:

I liked it better than the first two, but I'm wondering if that's because it's the newest. I'll have to see which stands the test of time.

by the way, did any of you stay through the credits to see the secret last scene?

I smell something....
I still have not seen it yet:sad4:. I bet I stay until after the credits though:D.

Yep. ;)

Done here.
Based on the reviews, I expect to like it less than the first two, but I still plan to see it. In due time. I haven't even seen Madea's Family Reunion yet. ;)

It was a totally fantastic movie if you've never read an X-Men comic in your life.

Sorry, I really just have nothing good to say about this one.

I heard (from numerous people) that in the third movie in particular that "mutant" is a total metaphor for "homosexual". Supposedly Angel is the most noticeable character to pinpoint this on. I've never seen the movie though, so I couldn't tell you firsthand.

You could say that, but you have to understand that the X-Men, and this whole concept has been around for a while. The "mutant" has been a metaphor for a lot of things, and it just gets associated with homosexuals now because that happens to be the hot button issue of the year.

I suppose you're right. A few years from now, we'll look at it as being a metaphor for transgendered people instead of gays.

Exactly. It's one of my major problems with the film too.

Well, I haven't seen it, but I think they really need to address this Gambit - Rogue (or lack there of) issue.

There is no issue. Gambit doesn't appear in the movies.

Now, if you like to talk about it in reference to the comics I'd be game =) Though....it's an issue that never sees a resolution anyway.

I guess I stated that horribly. I know Gambit isn't in the movies and that's an issue, in my opinion. Rogue's whole role in the movie is an issue, again, in my opinion. I know I've never seen the movie, but I already know.

I totally agree. Making her a teenager, and pairing her with an also teenage Iceman offends my nerd sensibilities in ways I can't measure.

No. :sad:I got ushered out of the cinema by some impatient people and missed it. I read about it on imDb that night, though.

Personally, I think there were too many new mutants for them to do them any real justice. I had to go to marvel.com and actually look up some of them, because they had bare minutes of screen time and I had no idea who they were or what they could do (not being a comic geek, I didn't know already). I went in with low expectations, and they were met. Take that any way you like lol. I think this movie suffered from having more than one director, much the way Superman 2 did.

One major highlight of this movie: Beast. :D I really wasn't sure what to expect, not knowing anything about Beast as a character, only that Kelsey Grammer was playing him. He kicked arse in the big fight at the end!

I'm not going to rate this one in comparison to the other two movies yet, because it's likely to grow on me on further viewing. I'll buy it to complete my set, regardless.

nah, i've been an x-men fan most of my life. the dark phoenix saga really was my introduction to the x-men, and i hold the john byrne period to be the 'créme de la créme' of x-men comics, if not superhero comics as a whole.

it's not the comic, but it's great in it's own way. the most notable drawbacks of all these movies is

1) halle berry
2) halle berry
3) halle berry.
4) halle berry

not only is storm in her version portrayed as a terribly mundane woman, but every time she uses here powers it takes like 3 minutes for her to even get her eyes white.

dark phoenix just wasn't dark phoenix either. i appreciate the fact that they spliced together about 4 storylines to make the script, but still - they could at least have done the phoenix effect.

Gambit - Rogue

gambit needs to stay out of the movies, and the marvel universe as a whole. i'm never gonna change my mind on that one.

but that's one of the cool things about the movie, that the chronology is all new. actually i think that saves some stuff for me that would otherwise set off my nerd radar.

like this : if they tried hard to keep the story and chronology similar to the comic, and changed a few things, those things would stick out like the punisher would if he joined power pack. ;)
