Ugh....Canuckistan is very close.
(Windsor ON is just to the south.)
So you live north of Canada!? Chilly up there, is it? :D

I must admit, Windsor is not one of my favourite spots. But then, I don't much like Detroit, either. I used to have a boyfriend in Sarnia, Ontario, across from Port Huron, and we'd drive down to Detroit for a little night life, a bar called Menjo's on McNicholls -- we'd drive up Woodward (awful street). Even way back then, we weren't allowed to walk to the bar -- armed guys parked our car for us and escorted us in. I never, ever felt safe.

Check your map.
Windsor is south of Detroit.

Detroit went to **** in the 60s.
It's currently a crater surrounded by useful places to go.

Nah, they are simply the objectively best when you take happiness and freedom index and the weather into account.
New Zealand - for the freedoms and sailing
The Netherlands - for cycling (nice and flat)
Denmark - freedoms again
Switzerland - the mountains of course
Australia - well, relatives live there

:D

I would have to look into the job market, but I would dearly like to live in an English-speaking country with not too much of a right wing presence and not too unquestioning of the Abrahamic beliefs.

That would probably mean Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Come to think of it, I should probably try to learn a bit more about Guyana as well.

Barring those, language becomes an issue alongside employment. I have come to conclude that it is not really possible to participate in a community meaningfully without some fluency in its main language. My Spanish falls somewhere between very poor and non-existent, but all the same I would have to put Uruguay as my next choice.

So it is:

1. Australia
2. Canada
3. New Zealand
4. Guyana
5. Uruguay

Were I capable of speaking some German or Nordic language to save my life, those would be very attractive options as well. Cultural ambition is a big plus to me.

I've always fantasized that if I wanted to start a new life elsewhere, it would've been Canuckistan or Kiwistan.
There's something appealing about Hawaii (I'm aware Hawaii isn't really a country but part of the USA) and Mexico too.

I'd probably don't feel as much at home in the latter two though.
Maybe I'm prejudiced, but if I grew up in the USA I think it would've been more likely I ended up as another one of those tormented souls who end up killing themselves and/or shooting up their school or workplace.
I was close to that point even where I'm born and bred, but I think I would've gotten even less compassion from the general American mindset.

I think I like Hawaii because of its remote location and it's "paradise-like" nature.
And Mexico... I find it hard to explain.
Besides me having a particular fascination for pre-columbian Mesoamerican cultures, there's something about it that just draws me, despite the rampant poverty, organized crime, and general corruption.

Perhaps it's the ladies... I do have a soft spot for Latinas... :flushed:

I avoid meeting anyone on RF.
There's a barrier between this place & my life in the real world.
This differs from some other sites, where I gab with gearheads
whom I meet regularly IRL.
So you'd never know of me.

Well that's a relief......

Bridging the Gap Between Believers and Skeptics
The only country I would even really considered moving into would be Canada to be close to my best friend.

But if I have to choose five, the other four would be: Norway, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. I've only thought about the first three however.
