Certainly not. Most discussions are not about winning or losing. they are an exchange of information.
Some people do not seem to know when to leave well enough alone.
You can say all that you have to say in a single post, or follow through with questions and answers.
There is no "Right" way to join in a discussion.
The very worst is to put words into someone else's mouth and speak for them.
Pfft. Lifetime supply of British tea sounds way better than that.
In all seriousness, though, if someone is the sort of individual that they require respect to be earned, I'm not interested in playing their game. The notion of "I'll respect you if you do such and such" strikes me as... an unhealthy approach to relationships. I'd much rather spend my time with folks who respect everyone by default and you don't have to earn anything with them. I rarely have the patience for folks who want to play games and make relationships way more complicated than they need to be. Basic dignity and respect for all things. It's not hard. Or at least it shouldn't be.
