Last Temptation was great, if disturbing, but for something completely different, would Life of Brian be considered a Jesus movie?

I like Jesus of Nazareth, although it is Anglicized. The Passion was not Anglicized but was way too violent for my taste. I like it better when they concentrate on the message.

Life of Brian, which is actually about Brian Cohen, but Jesus does make a special appearance!

I have come to have mixed feelngs about the Passion of Christ..way too much Good Friday, and not enough Resurrection Sunday.

I guess what the Passion was trying to capture was indeed the "Passion", the actual torment and suffering Christ had to go through because of his passion for us, and so the greater emphasis on the actual crucifixion is understandable, though I see your point.

Was it Max Von Sydow in the Greatest Story Every Told.
Jeffrey Hunter in King of Kings.
Ted Neely belting out those great webber/rice songs.
The tortured Willem Dafoe in Last Temptation of Christ.
Robert Powell as balanced Jesus in Jesus of Nazareth

or somebody else..what was your favorite Jesus Movie.

My favourite, which I watched as a child was Robert Powell, Jesus of Nazareth. I don't think anything else has even come close.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
My favorite Jesus movie is "A Child Called Jesus."

Amazon.com: A Child Called Jesus: Roberto Bisacco, Pierre Clmenti, Bekim Fehmiu, Alessandro Gassman, Irene Papas, Roberto Posse, Luciano de Ambrosis, Nouri Bouzid, Carmen San Martin, Maria Del, Matteo Bellina, Maurizio Donadoni, Fethi Haddaoui, Susan

This Italian film focuses on the life of Jesus AS A CHILD and pulls mostly from Gnostic Gospels. It's beautifully filmed in Tunisia, and the acting is good and the story very poignant. There's a great subplot involving a man that Herod hires to track down the child Jesus and kill him - but who is drawn to the child on a spiritual level. The moral struggle this man experiences is very well portrayed.

My other favorite Jesus movie is, of course, "Jesus Christ Superstar." LOVE IT!!!

Seeking the middle path..
"The Last Temptation of Christ" was a MUCH better book..... but the movie is good too on the off chance you won't be picking up the book anytime soon.

My pick for favorite Jesus movie followed closely by Jesus Christ Superstar.

I'll have to check out the book. Thanks for the tip.

I have two favorite but they are kind of obscure.

Buñuel- Christ Miracle in "La voie lactée" - YouTube

Bunuel has always been the greatest satirist of religion. His Jesus was both human and hilarious.

But the all time greatest Jesus movie of them all is:

St Matthew gospel - Baptism scene - YouTube

It feels like a documentary and that your actually witnessing the event. His Jesus is all business, he has a job to do and he gets it done.
