What about you?
My father had 3 criteria when choosing our names:
  1. it should be Frisian names (cause we were going to live in East Frisia)
  2. it should be short names, no chance for abbreviations
  3. it should be rare names
I think those are sensible criteria. "John" isn't a name, it's an umbrella term. "Katharina" will never be called by her name but soon be reduced to "Kathy".
