Westboro Baptists for sure but they are a fundamentalist minority.

Among the demographic groups most strongly in support of USA wars against Middle Eastern people are evangelical Christians.
The fact that they use a mercenary army doesn't change the fact that US Christians are some of the most warlike people on the planet. And the leaders they elect spend far more on bombs and death than they do on humanitarian aid.

The Koran contains 109 verses promoting violence toward non believers.
The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

The world has changed drastically in the last century. I don't believe that an Islamic people has launched any attack since WWII. 9/11 was a battle in a much longer running war, it didn't start the war.

I will agree that "western" leaders have made endless mistakes since that time, up to and including the present day. But, it's not like the mistakes are all on one side...

Islam is ultimately very difficult to justify.

Ideologically, it all but demands outright to be kept in entirely in check.

It is way too set on being led by scripture as opposed to religious wisdom - so much so that I no longer see fit to call it a religion at all.

Most Muslims are indeed peaceful, but that is ultimately a non-argument. Most people need some sort of provocation before becoming violent, after all.

The closest I can now come to defending it is pointing out that attempts at isolating from it are bound to backfire. We all need to build trust relationships. It scares me to see people who are already mistrusting and trigger-happy think of isolationism as a "solution".
