I keep my RF participation strictly secret from everyone I know in person. I have safety-related reasons to keep it private, and I also consider it my virtual sanctuary where I can freely be myself without worrying about anything.

What about you? Do any of your family members or friends know that you're here or what you post?

Boss and I chat about topics that arise on forums. Other than her, nobody.

I've told some family members about it. Most probably don't remember about it, though, because it isn't something that would stand out in their minds.

My husband knows about it. I even talk about some of you all to him.

My oldest son knows I moderate; I told him because he finds those kinds of things fascinating(special interest, I suppose?) I occasionally(jokingly) issue him warnings.

No one's shown interest in joining. My husband did once, but I pointed out that he'd have to abide by the site's rules, and he didn't like that, so didn't join.

It's not really a secret, it's just that I suspect most people wouldn't be interested in the subjects I read about on here.

My wife knows as much as she wants to know since she's uninterested in religion and does not care about political discussions.

My family knows that I'm here but not what I post about.
They generally have other interests.
I can post my interests here which I suspect would bore family members.

I don't see a need to let others know about my participation on any forum sites, but only because I would feel weird about old friends or family "chatting" with me on a public site.

There are at least a couple of people here who know me from another forum site that we were on together, although we've never met in person. Not that I would mind meeting any of them in person someday should the opportunity arise.

I lie in bed alongside hubby while merrily typing away on RF, kind of difficult to keep it secret under those circumstances.

The kids know of my involvement on RF by looking over my shoulder and asking "que fais-tu"? or "what you doing?". Tell them, the reply is usually "boring"

I don't think anyone else knows.

Does he ever read bits and then go "What a ******!"
I bet he does. ;)

He's usually trying to get to sleep so doesn't bother with it, he does get a bit uppity thought when I'm trying not to laughing at some joke and stifling snorts and jiggling about.

It is no secret that I participate here. I even use the same name and avatar in various other fora.

However, the language barrier alone is plenty enough for my presence here to be almost a secret.

My best friends, @dannerz and @Hayley Bartlett know about and post on this forum, but not as often as me.

My family however, doesn't care about religious topics. They're casual atheists. I think I brought it up in conversation once or twice, but I never pressured them to create an account or post here. They may ask what I'm doing with my time, and I just reply "posting on RF."

I don't like to keep secrets from people.
