It isn't just your smartphone, but everyone's. Any voice operated device monitors constantly for speech. If you have a Google account, you can use Google Voice to carry out simple commands like setting alarms, calling contacts, or doing web searches. When I was a kid, so very long ago, I wanted to have a watch just like Dick Tracy had. He could send messages just be speaking at his wrist. I now own a watch that does that. I can receive phone calls on it and ask it questions. It tells me the weather, currency conversions, news, and even monitors my sleep for snoring. And there are cameras everywhere. You can use your computer to monitor realtime conditions all over the world. If people see something unusual happening, they can record it instantly and upload it to the internet.
Privacy is very much a thing of the past. We live in an open society. And criminals hate it. Technology makes us vulnerable at the same time that it makes us powerful.
