Why do you believe that?
I believe that reincarnation is required to learn every aspect of life, in order to become enlightened, and end the cycle, to become a god yourself. One of my believes is that patron gods became enlightened beings in thier last life on earth.

I was trying to take an objective stance. The fact that you seem to be saying otherwise makes me think you are taking a personal stance on the bible's meaning without considering what each writer specifically wanted to write about, especially concerning the Gospel writers and their own personal beliefs concerning Jesus.
The OP asked an opinion. I gave it. So has many others. No one has attacked other people's opinions except you.

I'm pointing out your beliefs as non-religious, thusly calling you a hypocrite. This is not to say that I'm not a hypocrite. Merely adding that fact to the fact that strong belief in things of this nature leads in many ways to hypocrisy. Perhaps I was out of line though. In which case, I apologize and hope you have forgiveness for one who cannot fully understand your perspective, however non-Christian it might seem to me.

I have trouble understanding my myself, let alone my perspectives. lol. For what it's worth, you have my respect. I hope you accept my apology for my tone earlier.

Perhaps there is a heaven, perhaps there is not, in my eyes. The fact that you seem to be limiting the existence in the afterlife to your version of heaven and your version of the soul makes me a bit disappointed that such intelligent religious people can still not see that other views on the afterlife are there in a way for your God to let you see that he is more universal than you make him out to be
Hey, I am talking about my soul and My God; what is right for me. I accept that my opinion maybe totalkly worthless to any other individual, and I have only one thing to say to that individual "Power to you".

As far as I am concerned, I cannot even prove that I am alive, nor that you are not a figment of my imagination.:D

So we could all be in Matrix, I don't care that much. Then again, maybe I do. Either way, the fact that they're your opinions doesn't make it right for others.

Of course they don't; that is the beauty of individuals with free wills. You can think what you like, as can I. I was merely saying what I thought.

P.S I wouldn't care much for being in a matrix either; besides, i am sure my own brain would not conceive a mother in law such as mine........not on purpose, that is.:biglaugh:

My personal beliefs seem to stem from what I've heard described as an 'oversoul'. I don't know what tradition that comes from originally, but it fits what I've experienced. I kind of see it as one's whole 'spirit'- every aspect and memory of every person or thing you've ever been and have yet to be, your basic nature, and the life lessons of all the incarnations you might make- being contained in one sort of 'medicine bag'. When you incarnate, or take on a form, one of those... I guess you could say 'spirits' in the bag is what goes out to be whatever that form is. When that incarnation is over, the spirit flies back to the Oversoul with everything that it has learned. My interpretation is that, when that Oversoul has fulfilled all of its work and has helped others enough, it is given the choice to have its energy merged with that of... well, I'm not sure what it is. Existence, Spirit, Diety, or what the best phrase for it would be.

Do you believe that your 'soul' has any impact or effect on your behaviour here in this lifetime ? - or is the physical 'you' the only part that has any place here?
I believe that the human "soul" is actually the union of the spirit and the physical body. I'm assuming, however, that you are using the word "soul" as I would use the word "spirit." If you are, my answer is YES! My soul (spirit) is who I am. It is the feeling, thinking part of me, the part of me that would continue to exist no matter what were to happen to my physical body.

To quote C.S. Lewis: You don't have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body.
I didn't know C.S. Lewis said that! No wonder. He said a lot of very worthwhile things.

The soul is the life force which exists in all of us. When a person dies, that soul becomes non-existent--there is no after unless we are granted resurrection by Jehovah God. Ezekiel 18:4 "the soul that is sinning, it itself will die". The soul can/does die.
