But in seriousness, the designation of something as "alien" is somewhat arbitrary. The universe isn't a closed system - stuff moves around. If we want to be silly, the photons from Sun (in outer space) become part of Earth (typically regarded as non-alien) meaning the distinction is, ultimately, somewhat moot.

I will confess, though, that the science fiction plot device of "the Pagan gods were 'really' technologically advanced space aliens" tends to tick me off. Probably because it demonstrates a profound lack of understanding of polytheistic theologies and a level of disrespect that is just hard to stomach. >_>;

Not to speak of the lack of understanding that people thousands of years ago actually KNEW a lot about the world we live in. They didn't need alien help to make advances in science any more than we do today.
