We see here so often an assertion from Atheism people that it is not a religion. Isn't one wrong here, please?

No. Both statements "atheism isn't a religion" and "no religion usually means no atheism as well" are not necessarily contradictory.

With all due respect, dear, this must be your 20th thread about atheists in few days...
I mean...it's scary...

Yet again, atheism is not the opposite of religion, it’s the opposite of theism.

Atheism or theism describes (an element of) what an individual believes. Religion is a set of beliefs and practices, something an individual does.

Atheists can be religious but most are not. Theists can be religious but some are not. Regardless, neither atheism or theism are religions in themselves.

This seems to me to still be inspired by my "Religion is the Opium of the people" thread...

Guess I struck a nerve... well, at least he was making comments like this.

I have nothing negative to say about the OP...Just, I can't make heads or tails of it

English is not his first language...so he is not at fault...

But that's my problem, I guess...no problem at all really...:D

I refer you to the oft repeated quote, "Is not collecting stamps a hobby?"
Once you've answered that, go back to you opening post and re-evaluate it.

Religion doesn't even believe in itself, really !
And atheism, as a format doesn't really exist, in beliefs.
And most `people` don't really believe in atheism.
And that itself is as simple as this thread !

How many times are you going to ask the same question?

Actually, he repeatedly asks the same question over and over even though it has been answered over and over.......

What creed, culture, and history would dictate to atheists what we believe as a unit in relationship with how that belief helps us in life and finding purpose or so be?

@Vinayaka - Look at the OP, and see the post he's linked to - the title of this thread is quoting you from a post of yours in a different thread.

Sure, but as usual, he didn't understand my point. There is most likely no way to explain it to him either. He believes a person has to be a theist or an atheist. I'm saying there is a third option. There are some folks who have never heard of God, or talked to people who believe in God ... they have no concept of it, so they can't believe or not believe. The person in a village in Africa who has never seen snow or had somebody tell him about snow doesn't know anything at all about snow.

It depends.

However, given how nebulously defined "religion" is, the implications of having one versus not having one may not be what someone assumes they are. What do you think something being a religion implies @paarsurrey ?
