  • Yeah, I guess referring to what they're doing as "paraphrasing" is stretching the definition of "paraphrase". But I meant their tendency to put words in your mouth.

I laughed my *** off when one of them accused you of being emotional. "Dude, she's presenting a rational argument -- one that can be verified. Meanwhile, you have done nothing more than call her emotional without even giving examples of where her emotions have distorted the argument. How ****** is that?"
Yeah, I noticed that. Typical sloppy Randian thinking. I also notice the paraphrases they give of opposing opinions are not intellectually honest.
Were Randians as rational as they think themselves to be, they would concede that you've won the argument in the Ayn Rand thread.
Is it just me, or have the nutcases on RF gotten nuttier in the past two months? :D I mean, since when is John Moriss a scientist who would lose his job if he published on creationism?
Alceste! ....I came here hoping to write something witty, but now I pressured myself and I have performance anxiety.

    That's about it.
Yeah, I'm also conflicted about using the Taoist label since it's not like I actually attend any religious services...not that there are any here. I am quite fond of their mythology, but I just view it as poetic or metaphorical (not to diminish the significance of poetry). I also do practice Tai Chi, so hopefully I can be considered a proper "Tao-ist" but I don't really know haha. I guess I consider myself both a philosophical and a spiritual Taoist, with the 'spiritual' part being the lifestyle one develops when putting the philosophy into practice. Too many Westerners tend to view the philosophy as just an academic or intellectual exercise and it never leaves the brain space into one's actual actions. Well, I've become long-winded here so time to let it go. See you around the forums! ;)
