Yeah, it's something I hate to see. So many young girls these days are misdirected into valuing only their appearance. It's saddening.
I'm kind of surprised I missed that aspect of the pageants, but you brought it up beautifully. Six year olds do not need that kind of preassure. A friend of mine -- Suzanne -- was put through something similar by her mother. Her mother was a "Miss Texas" beauty queen who wanted Suzanne to be an actress. So she basically taught Suzanne to value fame and famous people as if they were the only gold in life. Suzanne was a pretty messed up kid when I knew her.

Such things really disturb me. I even make it worse because i can't stop myself from trying to envision it happening for real. Thats when it really gets messed up.

Don just called. I'm going to go meet him to paint his greenhouse now.
I'm making plans. Don said yesterday he wants me to help him paint today. IF so, I'm going to tell him he's got to swing past an ice cream store before or after we paint his greenhouse.
I need some ice cream now.

How's it going today?
I'm not so concerned with doing well, as I am with keeping about me a certain playfulness while I paint. I want to stay experimental for as long as I can.
What kind of work do they do in it? What are their favorite subjects?
My stuff is so remedial -- it's the first time I've held a paintbrush in years. But I love working with it.

I just started painting. Acrylic. I don't know a thing about how to paint with artist's acrylics, but I'm having a blast playing around with it. Last night, I did a painting of some Colorado mountains as seen by moonlight. It was horrible! But the idea fascinates me so much I'm going to try again. -
