  • But what is especially stupid is that anyone can prove them wrong simply by experimenting with it. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to notice that lust comes from an act of will -- from a choice. Sure, to be sexually excited by someone might be spontaneous, beyond control. But to actually drag that excitement out and turn it into sexual greed -- turn it into lust -- requires a choice. It requires an act of will. If you leave sexual excitement alone -- if you do not will to make it last -- then it comes and goes more or less quickly, and no harm is done. But people want that rush, so they try to drag it out, make it last longer than it would normally last, and thus turn it into sexual greed or lust. Then they blame the women for it, when it is their own decision to lust that is to blame.
Great example! When men are convinced they cannot control themselves around women they are turned into perpetual adolescents. They are made into life-long juveniles. I used to go to nudist resorts with all sorts of beautiful women and I never found myself genuinely lusting for any of them. Attracted to them, yes. But no more than if I had never seen them unclothed. Lust -- which is sexual greed -- is all in your head and you have complete control over it. There is no excuse for blaming women for it.
The thing so many people don't get about feminism is that men cannot be truly free until women are free. So long as women are opppressed, men are oppressed too. In order to oppress someone, you have to adopt the role or mask of an oppressor. In the end, that role or mask is a straight-jacket. It's a limit on how you can relate to others, on who you can be, on what you can do in life.
EXACTLY!!!! Whatever women want to wear -- whether it's a potato sack or a string bikini -- should in general be up to them. It is no more a male right to tell an adult woman how to dress than it is a male right to tell her how to vote.
It's actually a very tricky subject because there is no way to sum it up in sound bites. I haven't gone into more than half the points I want to go into in that thread. But even if I did, I wouldn't say everything that could be said about that subject.
This thread. Notice I'm not arguing against modesty. I'm just arguing that the definition of modesty be left up to the woman's conscience, and not be imposed on her by society.
How am I doing? I'm having fun explaining to the forum why allowing women the right to dress as they please is actually empowering women. And, of course, I'm not doing a very good job of it.
How's it going this morning? And do you ever get any sleep? You were up when I went to bed last night. Now you're up early in the morn!!!!
