  • Well, we've got commonsense and science on our side. I looked it up. Even the scientists who think spanking does little or no harm place so many restrictions on what they consider spanking that you might as well say their kind of spanking seldom happens in real life. For instance, Shireen, spanking to them is no more than two open handed swats to the butt that do not produce pain. Do not produce pain? Gimme a break! When people spank their kids, they want to produce pain.
As does the logic escape me too. I think though, that we are dealing with something less than logic here. People are so bound to their backgrounds -- if they were spanked, they grow up to think spanking is fine -- without ever applying logic to it. The one's who break out of the box are all too rare.

I think it's a usually sad aspect of human nature, Shireen, that we are more likely to stick to our cultures than to stick to reason and evidence.
    LOL you deserve it.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't think people can realistically argue against your experience as a parent.
I would love to! I'm pretty sure hanging out with you would be awesome; hopefully it'll happen some time in the future. (Also, I would be able to glomp you for real. :D)
Honestly, parents like you -- and I am not saying this to flatter you -- are among the things that give me hope for your girl's generation.
It's easy for me to get angry about it, and I'm not even a woman. But you cannot arbitrarily lessen the value of one human without lessening the value of all humans.
    Thanks for the frubals. :D
It's crazy to me that people still hold the view that Muslim women are these submissive, weak girls. I saw them boss the (male) boss around.

    One example:

"We're changing classrooms for the day."
"But I was going to do my paperwork in that room, can't you..."
    "Use the office, then."
    "Okay..."
    :D
