  • Yeah, we don't get the chance to talk often. I'll try to get on chat more. I'm glad to hear that the healing is going well.
I'm good. Not much is new. I have been busy lately with a couple of things, trying to get a job for one thing. How about you?

How's the healing process going on? I like your blog's style, by the way. I plan on doing some reading there. :D
I agree about compassion and love being a central part of religion. I think that is where I get frustrated many Muslims seem obsessed with minutiae in regards to religious law and it reminds me of the people obsessed with the Second Coming in Christianity. Women and Homosexuals is where I have the two biggest issues with mainstream Islamic thought and they aren't ideas I am willing to set aside.

In regards to women I find it bizarre how quickly Islam slide back into the behavior that was pre-Islamic Arabia where women were little more than breeding objects. To me this flies in the face of the example set by the Prophet who allowed his wives quite a bit of latitude. Aisha whose behavior at times caused the Prophet to go out to be alone never received any punishment and would never have accepted the kind proscribed by many. Yet If Aisha was alive know she would be harassed or even killed in many Modern Islamic societies for doing what she did best speaking her mind.
I understand. I see Muslims who say such things even in public or in books yet people start foaming at the mouth that there might be problems in the way Islam is being carried out. That is the thing I am worried about as I just don't know how well I will fit. On these boards sometimes I feel like I am in an entirely other galaxy when talking to certain people. So I find I get caught up between wanting to do the right thing, not rocking the boat too much, but all while being honest with myself about my feelings. I already left a religious tradition where that didn't work out and I am somewhat baffled why I have found myself in a similar situation again. lol
It is very sad. It makes me scratch my head at times and worry about my decision that is for sure. If it wasn't for you, Rational_mind, Unity, and Yusz I don't think I would stick with my decision. It does make me worry though when I move latter this year and visit the Masjids that will be in my area. At times I don't think I will fit in very well at all.
You're very welcome. :D Yeah. It seems the subject is turning into something else...Not sure what.
