  • Well I replied to your thread about Akhenaten. Akhenaten wasn't a good king. His rule put Egypt into a slump it never recovered from.
Correction, I believe in many gods as facets of one. The Egyptians weren't Polytheists, they were Monists.
Oh I'm not talking about Hinduism being Pagan now, LOL. I'm pointing out we do believe the Egyptian religion has authority. We believe God established our religion too. If you ask me about Akhenaten in the Kemetic DIR sometime I'll point out why I wouldn't be so enthusiastic or think so highly of Akhenaten. I'd want it done in the DIR for everyone's education.
In fact I've met Baha'is who think Menes Narmer was a manifestation when I tell them that the Egyptians believed God established the office of Pharaoh. :)
What makes you think Pagan religions don't believe they have an authority? The Egyptians believed Ra himself founded their religion and gave them their laws, which were lost over time. They then believe that Horus himself established the office of Pharaoh to unite the nation and protect the religion from sects. It's not that the religion has "no authority" just because it has no scriptures. We even call the Pharaoh "Netjer's Apostle". Netjer being the Egyptian word for God.
Well I suppose you'd be right to say Hinduism isn't Pagan in a way. After all, Pagan is a title we had given to us by those who persecuted and hated us (Christians), and Hindus weren't part of that. Hindus were lucky enough to keep thriving even after their western neighbors were under the oppression of the Church. Maybe Hinduism shows what Pagan religions would be like if they had been allowed to keep evolving without obstruction.
Oh hai Royal Falcon of God! :D I thought you were that no good backstabbing madanbhakta!
You think all religions that identify as Pagan are Polytheistic or Animistic? Also you make it sound like Hinduism is very narrow or defined, when you say you wouldn't consider tribal Vedic beliefs to be Hindu.
Curious, what is it that makes you think Hinduism is much different then what we would call "Pagan religions"?
You know one of us should start a thread about the Book of Mormon viewed as religious fiction, but I know that wouldn't turn out well with the LDS, LOL
