Not debating. Someone asked about Hinduism and someone else said the Vedas are the most important books of hInduism. Having born and lived in India (yes, as a Hindu), I know by experience that is just a perception and not the fact. I had to post my view as no one else had and that was it. If you notice, I am not debating at all.
I see a post by RiverWolf that Varna is not by birth. Clearly, he is not from India and has no idea how Varna really works. He is relying on hearsay and Vivekananda style books, which simply paint an incorrect picture. Varna is by birth only and nothing else. A Brahmana has to have a gotra - paternal lineage all the way to one of the 7 Rishis. Else, he is not a Brahmana - pure & simple.
But I am not posting this, as that may be seen as debating. So trust me, I am not some muslim out to disrupt the flow.
