I have a physics/ontology question, and you're not on the chat ATM, so here goes:

Begin with an infinitely expansive homogeneous 3D vacuum, which expands quadratically at some rate. (e.g. points twice as far away recede four*constant times as quickly) If you insert the mass-energy of the universe in an arbitrary small space in this vacuum, (do I need to specify the medium?) what does this do? Does it behave differently than the regular universe in any immediately noticeable way? (I'm thinking stuff relating to the CMBR and surface of last reflection)

Not sure... they tend to get terribly distracted in the process.
