  • Where can I find some in depth information on the Festival of Harvest? I’m looking for some stuff from the first century. The gospel of John makes a connection between Jesus and the Festival. Without an understanding of the festival I can only make a vague connection. Much of the material on the internet is coming from a Christian view rather than a Jewish view.
I am sorry that my response upset you. How curious a reaction for a post about people taking offense.
Good evening Metis, I was curious if you had any book recommendations regarding the situation in 1st Century Judaism and Jesus. I've recently finished some Daniel Boyarin's works and am looking to better my understanding.

The best I've run across is "The Jews In the Time of Jesus" by Stephen Wylen, who is a rabbi. This is an area of specialization for him, and he has authored several other books that are similar in orientation. Good luck with your studies.
Sometimes I think I'm all alone here. No one seems to understand what the heck I'm saying.

I do-- well, at least I think I do. ;) I think what you're probably running across are people who simply find it easier to jump to conclusions rather than to actually spend time trying to understand you. Anyhow, do please keep up the good work as I at least enjoy your posts.
thanx for the info....still....it wasn't written by G-D
7.Moses' prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets.

I really don't personally get into what was supposedly written by God as this is just not my "thing".
Thanks, Metis, if you tell me the Indian reporter's name, I will google her...I usually watch CNN News....:D
    I saw it. Thanks.

I think my emotions got a bit high as well.

Just so you know where I'm coming from: any sort religious initiation ritual for an infant tends to tap into the objections I had to infant baptism from when my then-Catholic ex and I were looking to have kids.

I'm glad you came back here. I left IF because of a disagreement that I had with Lightkeeper and I have never returned. I miss some of the people there but some have moved here. I'm looking forward to seeing more of you here.
